An Interesting Collection of Music,
By
This review is from: Greatest Tits (Audio CD)
I became a real fan of this band probably just over a year ago. Now, I've become a purist. And I'm in the near-finished stages of making my own Greatest Hits album. Because this one just won't do it for me.
One reviewer here said "all the hits are here." That they are not. I absolutely can't believe this band's biggest hit "I Must Increase My Bust" is missing. And in it's place is the inclusion of a non-single like "Marijuana in Your Brain". It's not a fair trade, not at all. Or at least it would have been if another great Lords of Acid non-single had been included here. Such as the 'Most Wonderful Girl' of the newest Farstucker album- "Stripper", or the iconic "Young Boys". I actually get the impression that this CD is not really being marketed to fans of the band, but rather listeners who have yet to get into them. Of course this compilation has it's upsides. The inclusions of 3 brand new Lords tracks- "Gimme Gimme" is the new single and surprisingly the least of these new songs, "Stoned on Love Again" features a terrific male vocalist, and "Nasty Love" is arguably the best. Also missing are "Hey Ho!" from Lust, and "Lover Boy / Lover Girl" from Farstucker. Plus this CD only totals 64 minutes. That's more than 14 minutes unused that could be occupied by at least 3 more songs. More than enough room to throw in those 3 most important missing tracks- "I Must Increase My Bust", "Young Boys", and "Lover Boy / Lover Girl". This item is worth buying for the extra tracks and the music video, but it's not a definitive Greatest anything of this band. At least if the new tracks here are any indication of the direction in which the band may be heading, there's something to look forward to down the road. I'm hooked on "Nasty Love"!

Praise the Lords.,

As with most artists, a collection is a good place to start, or end. No problems with what's here, and for the most part it's aggressive techno. "Gimmie Gimmie" is an excellent track, and a good start to the disc. "Pussy" is classic LOA, and "Crablouse" is hardcore and catchy. "Am I Sexy?" has kind of 60's retro feel, and was also on one of the Austin Powers soundtracks. Track after track is great, there are few low-points, and it ends with the wonderful "Nasty Love". I only really wish "I Must Increase My Bust" made the cut. I mean really, who couldn't go for more t*ts?

I'm not really a big LOA fan but it doesn't mean that I don't like them by all means. I became familiar with a few songs of theirs back in the mid to late '90s when I was in college. What I can really appreciate Lords of Acid is that they have quite the perverse sense of humor. Obviously the song titles speaks volumes especially in songs like "Scrood Bi U" (a messed up version of Marilyn Monroe's "I Wanna Be Loved By You") and "P***y". One of my personal favorite LOA songs is the catchy "I Sit on Acid". I bought "Greatest T*Ts" primarily for that song as well as for "Am I Sexy" and "Crablouse". I found myself enjoying the rest of the cd immensely. Not only are the songs are hilarious lyrically but the music is a good blend of techno and industrial music. I used to think they were cheesy but after listening to "Greatest T*Ts", the band has grown on me considerably. I am a fan. After the Super Bowl halftime controversy, I think Janet Jackson should hook up with Lords of Acid. They can provide the music and she can strip.

This CD is basically a reprint of all the old songs, but it's good to hear all the good ones on one CD. The "Includes Video 4 `Gimme Gimme" is kind of deceptive though, its actually only got one movie on it. Inside cover has some nice trippy art. By the way, this is not for kids! 15 tracks.

It is difficult to begin writing this. This CD makes me very very happy. There are some hilarious lyrics, great beats, great hooks. In actuality, it must have been difficult to put together a 'greatest hits' package from LOA. I know there are some purists out there who dont like the more recent stuff, and thats fine. I love all of it. You would be hard pressed to buy a bad CD from this band. All the CDs are great. Just pick one, already. Once you do that, you'll go out and get the rest of them anyway, so what are you waiting for? And if you dont like them, well as the band says "PTL, FTR". Which means "Praise The Lords..." Im sure that with a little imagination you will figure out what the rest of it means. Its an honest thing to say. Really. If you dont like it, well then theres always Ashlee Simpson, Good Charlotte and all that other MTV garbage that passes for music. They are such groundbreaking rebels, arent they? LOL Get this one first. Then get "Voodoo U", "Our Little Secret", then get "Lust". You will be ready for their debut. Then get the rest of them once you realize what the hell you were doing sitting in some lame sports bar drinking Bud Lite for all those years, singing along to "American Pie", arguing about the instant replay rule, or if George Bretts pine tarred bat was truly a violation back in 80, or whenever the hell it was. BORING! Im probably preaching to the choir, though. I doubt any frat boys are into this stuff. I was out in the most ridiculous, trendy and expensive nightclubs in NYC with my friends, listening to fantastic music like this and meeting all sorts of interesting people, while Xed to the gills or otherwise altered by lightly roasted animal tranquilizers. And, yeah. Im being sardonic. Life is fun. Live it. Its the only one ya got. Let this CD be your lifes theme music, and you are in for one hell of a ride baby.

Your wildest dream !!,

Let me first make clear that as much as this album is fun to listen to, its also a brilliant piece of music. Many reviewers have mentioned they had heard the hit "pussy" and fallen in love with the lyrics. Well yes the album is lots of fun but it's not just fun. "Pussy" by all means does not reflect the actual sound of this album. The album is a great combo of techno/industrial/90's rave/rock/metal with gothic elements. Crazy acid synths, thumping bass, provocative vocals and party big-beats combined with incredible song writing make this album a masterpiece. If you are into the genre or if you just want some wild party tunes, i strongly recommend getting this album. Highlights: Gimme gimme, I sit on acid, crablouse, rubber doll.

Fingerlickin' Good, a kama sutra guide to LOA,

I think this is a pretty good compilation of the Lords throughout their career. I also like the fact that they include a track from their upcumming release Gimme Gimme. I recommend this for anyone who is an LOA virgin just getting into the band and needs a kama sutra guide to the band, those perverts who can not wait for the release of Gimme Gimme and want a voyeuristic sneek peek, or those nasty n' dirty HARDCORE collectors who need every piece of LOA merch they can get their little sweaty sticky hands on. The only complaint I have is that they are forgetting about the best (in my oppinion) LOA song of all time, and thats Young Boys. Go get it, and get down n' nasty...~JanderVK

Okay, first things first.
To the guy down there who completely trashed this album..... Praga Khan has always been part of LOA. Even up to their last album. As for this, I'm sure the original people had SOME say in it. Especially since Praga is currently working on a new LOA album. You can read that if you go to his website. It's due out early next year. For the album.. If you are a fan, this has their greatest hits of course. Like. "Crablouse" and "Pussy" plus an awesome some, "Gimme Gimme" which I love. This shows my more....mature, tastes in music. It's raunchy, it's dirty....I LOVE IT. The music being really good is a plus as well. Very hard, dirty, and trancy. It's really good and I have to say it's one of my favorite albums. Let's see. What else can we say here....BUY IT! If you are raunchy, and love dirty songs....here you go.

A great cross between Industrial,Techno, and Rock,

I've been a long time Lord's of Acid fan ever since that day I stumbled upon Voodoo-U.I would've never even heard of this band if it hadn't have been for the devil girl on the front which was very appealing to me.This European orgy sings about nothing but pleasure(sex & drugs),and their experiences when doing them. This album is much better, and features the genres of industrial, techno, and rock all in one.Im more of an electronic music fan than rock ,but this is perfectly blended. This cd also features the band's dj,Pragha Khan which totally kicks ass!Whether you are a raver,a stoner,or a headbanger this is guaranteed to be your cup of tea!Go on now ,ya know you want it so get it~

RIP OFF!,

The TRUE Lords of Acid are long since gone. No I don't mean dead...what I mean is that original members Nikkie Van Lierop, Praga Khan,Oliver Adams and JK Magick have long since gone their seperate ways. They are the genius that LOA once was. Everything you hear on this compilation that is worth a damn is a product of their work. Songs such as I sit on Acid, Rough Sex, Take Control and The Most Wonderful Girl go back to 1991 with the original release of a fantastic album: LUST (later to be released in '96 with bonus tracks). The Crablouse, Do What You Wanna Do, and Marijuana in Your Brain date back to the '94 release of what I consider to be one of the most notable albums of our time: Voodoo-U. Pussy, Rubber Doll, and Lover come from the last TRUE LOA release: Our Little Secret (1997). Since that time (with the exception of the mediocre albumn: Heaven is an Orgasm), everything released under the LOA title is PURE CRAP.It appears that the original members sold the rights to the name: "Lords of Acid" as well as the rights to their work only to have some jackasses milk it for everything it's worth. Everything that has come out in the past 6 years has been 1) a feeble attempt at original work by the new title holders 2) a manipulation and dissolution of original LOA work (i.e. remix upon remix, and the Stript albums which blatantly re-released great songs only this time devoid of lyrics! They touted them as instrumentals...SHAME!!!) or 3) as in the case of this compilation, and latest attempt to steal your money, a combination of 1 & 2. It's dissapointing to see what has become of some of the best music of the 1990's. I met the Lords of Acid during their "Our Little Secret" tour of 1997. They were cool people and it's disheartening to see what they have done in selling their name and selling out on their long-time fans. I guess people will do what they have to do for a few bucks. Maybe there were extenuating circumstances none of us can know. At any rate, please do not support the current imposters by spending your hard-earned $$$'s on this hoax of a CD. If you want TRUE LOA in all its greatness go back and buy Lust or Voodoo-U. Our Little Secret is also a good albumn although listening to it is like watching the demise of the original LOA. They were on their last legs at that time and this fact is evidenced by some of the songs of that albumn. Long live the TRUE members of the Lords of Acid even though, by selling out, they have dissapointed us terribly. |
