The Pindus range runs down the middle of the country, and the Olympus range lies along the east coast. In most places, the soil is thin and rocky, but between the mountains, in central and northern Greece, lie two large, fertile plains. Mountains divide the mainland of Greece into six main regions, called provinces: Thrace, Macedonia, Thessaly, Epirus, Central Greece, and Peloponnese.

I bought this book for my 8 year old daughter who loves geography and facts. She loved this book, along with the other books like it, Japan for example. It gives a lot of detail about the country.
