They feel a great deal of pressure to marry before their late twenties and have children, especially sons. Even if she has a job, a married women is responsible for cooking and cleaning, shopping, doing the laundry, and looking after the children. She shows her worth by keeping a spotless house. In some families, especially in the villages, fathers, sons and male guests eat separately from the women. Greek cafes are often filled with men, drinking coffee or sipping ouzo, a strong alcoholic drink. The women are at home preparing dinner or finishing the housework.

This is a book I would have found back in my elementary school classroom. It's been written for a very young reader, not how it came off in the book description here.
