Filmed in the picturesque Morocco, the film in 70% takes place on the desert and behind the wheels of trucks. The movie comes close to resembling another Franco-Italian co-production The Wages of Fear (1953). Both films are about outcast European émigrés driving trucks for a living in be there in Africa or South America. Throughout the entire film, which by the way is in black and white, the screen is completely saturated with blistering Saharan desert sun. The cinematography and photography are beautiful, and give a certain "wild-west" type of feel to the movie. Greed in the Sun, was the nr. 7 most grossing film in France in 1964.

The film is about a group of truck-drivers who work for a private company in a fictional country located in North Africa. The two friends, Rocco (Jean-Paul Belmondo) and Marec (Lino Ventura) find themselves testing their friendship, when one morning Rocco steals a brand-new delivery truck with unknown cargo and a woman by his side. Previously, the truck was scheduled to be driven by a newly hired driver with questionable personal history, who is does not say much and goes around with a fake passport. The intrigue builds up, when the owner of the company promises to pay reward money to Marec if he can go after Rocco and recapture the stolen truck with the cargo. Marec accepts the challenge and together with the new driver goes after Rocco and his mistress. The adventure will take all three men, who will also later be joined by very talkative, Mitch (Bernard Blier), through desert wilderness, small Arab towns, dangerously elevated narrow hill-drives, all the way to their final destination...

Beautiful 35mm anamorphic (2.35:1) transfer to DVD (16:9). English subtitles. The transfer to Blu-ray of "Greed In The Sun" has its original organic look with no digital help, meaning that there is a good layer of grain, giving it the old fashioned look. "It's a winner!" DVD Savant. "it's a brisk and very entertaining film that is a joy to see on Blu-ray." Blu-ray.com
