An engaging series for young readers,
This review is from: The Greedy Gremlin (Pixie Tricks) (Paperback)
My kindergartner loves to read and especially adores stories about fairies. When I came across the Pixie Tricks books, I knew she would love them, and she does! The story in this book centers around a young girl named Violet who teams up with a fairy called Sprite to help send some pesky escaped fairies back to their own world. The chapters are relatively short which makes it a perfect story for young readers to build their reading confidence and also to entice reluctant readers into reading.
There are also colorful pixie stickers included here which can be placed in The Book of Pixie Tricks found at the back of the book. This activity booklet includes comprehension activities, spaces where children can place the stickers, and other interesting activities. This is an engaging series, perfect for young readers, Grades K-4.

I bought the first Pixie Tricks book after reading the reviews here on Amazon. My daughter is a good reader but she won't take the time to read chapter books on her own. She would prefer if I read a loud to her.
After I ordered the first book (Sprite's Secret), she and my son (age 5) enjoyed listening to me read the book, but she still would not read it on her own. I decided to just go ahead and order the next book in the series (The Greedy Gremlin), since they loved listening to the first one so much. I has also determined that my tactic would be to read one chapter, then make them wait a day for the next chapter in an attempt to build some suspense (sometimes I would read two chapters since they are so short). Well, the strategy worked! My kids became so enthralled in the story, they couldn't wait. My daughter picked up the book and read the rest of the book in two sittings (and read aloud to her little brother). I recommend these books to anyone are who is trying to help spark the interest of reading for their child.

This was a birthday gift for my daughter which was in kindergarten at the time. I enjoyed reading this book to her and she would sit there asking for another chapter. This was a fun and easy read. We got the whole series for her and she takes care of them, she can't wait to read herself, so she can read them all over with no help! This is an EXCELLENT collection!

Matthew's review,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Greedy Gremlin (Pixie Tricks) (Paperback)
I liked the second pixie tricks book very much. My favorite part was when they go into the video game because it was weird. It was even weirder when Violet went in. At the end, Leon, Violets' cousin, demanded for Violet to say what's going on and she did. That's how Leon knew about Sprite, the fairy. I would recommend this book.

My daughter is a slow reader and these books provided reading practice while keeping her entertained. We both recommend these books to anyone who likes fantasy stories.

My daughter is 3 1/2 years old and can't get enough of the Pixie Trick books. We have read the entire series (all 8 and hoping for more)and are currently working on our second go round. The writing keeps her interest and the characters are memorable. She even lays in bed after we are done reading and "reads" to herself. This series of books are her first chapter books and as a Mom I would have to say they are perfect. I can't wait till she is really reading them on her own. Bogey Bill in book 4 his her favorite character and she loves saying Robert B. Gnome. Tracy - you have done an excellent job with this series!
