Beginning reader in our house really likes this book as he uses the illistrations to "cue" him into the words. There are many subject areas that can be explored as a result of the book, reading, math, science...For an older child who is slower learning to read, this is excellent as there are multisyllable words and a 'story line' that holds their interest.

I have 3 children, ages 5, 3 & 1. My two oldest think The Greedy Python is a funny book. The illustrations are awesome- as all of Eric Carle's work is. The story teaches a good lesson in selfishness and greediness. The greedy python is eating everything in sight and even after getting too full to hold anymore he sees one last thing to eat. He winds up gulping down his tail and eventually disappearing. It's a really good lesson for all children to learn. It's also easy reading.

Our 8 month old son LOVES this melodic and entertaining story. He laughs and smiles as we read it to him - really likes the rhyming sounds. Plus, it's fun to read for mom and dad.

My 2 1/2 year old loves snakes and I had a hard time finding childrens book about snakes. We read this book twice every night and it is still one of his favorites. I would highly recommend this book!

Buckley and Carle are a winning duo with the story of the greediest python there is!

We learn how huge his stomach is and about all the animals he eats. In fact, he eats so many they make a ruckus inside his belly. They even make him quite sick! He coughs up each of the animals he's eaten, but then he's even hungrier than before. What he does next goes to show that being greedy isn't always the best thing.

Carle's illustrations of a frog leaping, a bat hanging, and a bird flying are just some of the colorful animals this python ate.

Add this to your library, as it will be fun to read over and over again.

I love Eric Carle's artwork but his writing isn't all that great on some of his books. But this one is great. Maybe because it's written by Richard Buckley.

It has a great rhyme, it's quick and makes a good board book for infants or toddlers, it's funny.

I really like this book.

This was an interesting story. The greedy python keeps eating beyond what it can handle, and doesn't stop even when he is tempted by his own tail. He eats himself into nothing. A good simple lesson on being too greedy.
My daughter likes the illustrations. It's not my favorite Carle book, but I think it's interesting enough that it would be a good addition to your child's library.

This book is great to read to children and to teach science. My son and some other children had a blast when I read them this book. Great work!!!

A good book to begin an entire curriculum of sharing for the preschooler. Adding the song "I'm being swallowed by a boa constrictor" and acting out the song brings this book to life. The rhyming and bright colors of an Eric Carle book always brings a smile to the class and the teacher.

This product was in worst condition than the one I wanted to replace. It came with book tape on the spine and pages where on the brink of falling out.
