This is the type of short story book you can easily find in any university bookstore for courses in Spanish, Italian, French, German, etc. The stories have been edited down to make them slightly easier to read, and each story, as well as the introduction, has a vocabulary list at the end of each selection of words that are most likely to be difficult for an advanced student of Greek, in the order in which they appear in the text.

This is the perfect reader for someone with a good, basic working vocabulary and a thorough grounding in grammar, but who is not yet proficient enough to make it through an adult Greek book without having to look up words left and right. It's definitely not easy, though, so make sure you can read Greek at least somewhat proficiently. If you can, it's the perfect book to improve your vocabulary and proficiency. More interesting than a child's book, but not too daunting.
