The chapters cover Mycenaean expansion, Phoenician and Phocaean colonisation, Greeks in the western Mediterranean, Syria, Egypt and southern Anatolia, etc. The volume is richly illustrated.

About the Author
Gocha R. Tsetskhladze, who has two Doctorates in Ancient History and Classical Archaeology (Moscow and Oxford), works in the University of Melbourne. He has published extensively on the archaeology of Greek colonisation and the Black Sea region, and excavated for many years in the eastern and northern Pontus. His most recent project is the periodical Ancient West & East, of which he is Editor-in-Chief.
