This was an odd read. It's a collection of Greek myths that were rewritten, apparently by someone who knew the tales, but didn't try very hard to get them right. The simplest example of this is the fact that the author used some Greek names for the gods (Zeus, Poseidon) and some Roman names for the gods (Diana, Venus), which isn't exactly a crime, but it's still confusing.

In addition to this odd naming of the gods, some of the stories were jumbled together, where, especially in the first few tales, she'd start telling one story, jump to summarize a second, mention a third, and then finish with a fourth. It got somewhat better as the book progressed, but it still cropped up even in the last tale.

For all that the stories were acceptably well written. If I didn't know anything about Greek (or Roman) mythology, and I never cared to learn it (or maybe if I wanted a simple introduction for my child), I might have enjoyed this book more. But if that's not the case for you I'd say look elsewhere.

There is no active table of contents.

The stories contained are:
The Wood-Folk
The Judgement of Midas
Prometheus
The Deluge
Orpheus and Eurydice
Icarus and Daedalus
Phaethon
Niobe
Admetus and the Sheperd
Alcestis
Apollo's Sister (in two parts)
The Calydonian Hunt
Atalanta's Race
Arachne
Pyramus and Thisbe
Pygmalion and Galatea
Oedipus
Cupid and Psyche
The Trial of Psyche
Stories of the Trojan War (in three parts)
The House of Agamemnon
The Adventures of Odysseus (in three parts)

Terrible. I couldn't continue reading after the first few pages because of how much was wrong with the stories. They were using roman names instead of the Greek names. Other than the names they messed up on certain things like when they called hades a place and not a person
