Interesting narration, sort of like a tour guide through life!,

The author takes you around a tour of Nashville and then San Diego -- you feel like you are on a tour through life with a rather funny, philosophical and "weathered" tour guide who not only describes the places and life situations but also adds his touch of philosophy, humor and live experiences.
Being a Super minority (East Asian), I could relate with it much more easily.

Wit & Philosophy in I Met a Greek Goddess in Nashville,
This review is from: I Met a Greek Goddess in Nashville, Tennessee (Kindle Edition)
When the author behind the pseudonym Kalpanik S. first arrives on U.S. shores, his sense of being a stranger in a strange land is profound, but not in the least paralyzing. In spite of going through the cultural extremes of San Francisco, San Deigo, Silicon Valley, Seattle and -of all places- Nashville, Kalpanik S maintains his mental equilibrium and his sense of humor.
A compilation of emails and personal ruminations, "I Met a Greek Goddess in Nashville" is a blend of travelogue and philosophy mixed with a dose of Dave Barry-esque charm. Nashville, take note: Kalpanik S. presents not only the major, better known aspects of the city to his readers, but adds interesting tidbits that entice prospective visitors as well. Readers, Kalpanik S. is new at being a published author, and it shows. But, as he has obviously done since immigrating to the U.S., he's learning fast on that steep, upward curve. I predict every book he publishes will continue to improve and charm.

witty and descriptive writing, highly recommended!,
This review is from: I Met a Greek Goddess in Nashville, Tennessee (Kindle Edition)
I read this book, after one of my girlfriends recommended it to me, she loved it and said I would too. She was right! It is about a short but sweet two year "detour" through Nashville during the "Tech downturn". You get to read about Nashville, TN as seen from the eyes of an Asian-Indian-American-Californian-Washingtonian. The witty and descriptive writing style of the author made it hard for me to put down, Good photos too. It really is a hilarious read, without being gross or offending. I found myself being caught off guard with the author's sense of humor. For example, the author compares Faith Hill to himself and points out the similarity between a COUnTRy muSiCIaN and a COmpUTeR SCIeNtist. Great book, well worth the read! |
