This review is from: Greek gods and heroes
In my opinion, no person in the western world can be considered educated when lacking knowledge of Greek mythology. So much of what is considered western civilization and thought originated in the Greek areas and spread around the world. The tales of the Greek heroes provide the template for nearly all thee subsequent tales of the acts of great heroes. In this book, Graves does an excellent job in describing the personality traits and history of the primary gods and heroes of Greek lore. While he takes some poetic license in the delivery, the basic facts are unaltered. His prose and method of presentation is very appealing and will interest readers of all ages from middle school and beyond. |
