I will preface this with the fact that it was purchased for a 3 1/2 year old, so for us, while the book and stories were great, there could have been a lot more pictures- which I was expecting from the reviews that proclaimed the mighty number of pictures- it doesn't really have many more pictures than other mythology books for kids. For some reason my daughter was more irked by the lack of pictures in this one- she kept saying things like, "But where is the centaur?" etc. and pointing sadly at the page. So in the end if you need a suppliment to the ever fabulous D'Aulaire's Greek Myths then you should get this book- it has the labors of Hercules which is cool- although he is Heracles, which is fair, so I just said Hercules instead while reading it to her because she prefers that. I also appreciate the pronunciation guide in the back, helpful. In the end this is cute and we liked it but would have liked more pictures. I wish someone would write more awesome mythology books for littler kids- even if they only focus on one storyline.

This book is nice for the younger crowd (early elementary). The drawings are entertaining and the text is appropriate for children. The selection of myths was also pleasing, to include many that were interesting to my children. Pandora, Arachne, Tasks of Heracles, Jason and the Golden Fleece, Perseus, Odysseus, and Theseus are just some. My little ones eagerly enjoyed reading selections each day that we studied the book.
