Book Description

November 13, 2007
Ambitious and beautiful Athena Lakis has one simple rule: No romance with a Greek. In theory, this tenet should be easy to keep. After all, reaching for her life long dream to own and operate a prestigious hotel on prime seaside property in Greece, she has her hands full. The major hurdle being her drop-dead gorgeous competition: Greek tycoon Alexandros Strintzaris. Alexandros has his sights set on more than just a real estate deal. He wants Athena, and he always gets what he wants. When he discovers she is the one outbidding him on the resort, will he feel the same? From a Naples ballroom, to the exotic island of Santorini, Alexandros and Athena learn when it comes to affairs of the heart, there are always exceptions to the rule.

About the Author

Born in Athens, Greece and raised in the states, Aleka has straddled the Atlantic and had a foot on each continent for many years. An avid reader from a very young age, she entered her first literary contest at twelve with a poem in her native Greek language. The poem placed second in the international competition and ricocheted Aleka's love for writing to the top of her list. High school and college proved to be a battle between journalism and graduation. However, the need to finish her degrees kept her writing private until her desire to write was no longer containable, and she ended her management career to write full-time. Aleka's efforts paid off, and her initial publishing contract was a present delivered on time for Christmas. Her novella, Sempre, was published in the Holiday in the Heart Romance Anthology. Today, Aleka spends her days with her family enjoying the simple pleasures in life. She loves to travel and does so with every excuse available to her. Blending her life passions of story telling, travel, and exotic cultures, Aleka aims to transport her readers into the magical world of romance. http://www.alekanakis.com

5.0 out of 5 stars One Simple Rule... No Romance with a Greek Man, January 7, 2008
This review is from: The Greek Rule (Paperback)
The Greek Rule is a story about a Greek American woman named Athena Lakis, who is doing what she can to make her dreams come true--on her own terms. She aspires to build and operate a sea-side resort in Greece, and wants the show the world that she can do it without her two older brothers coming to her rescue. Thankfully, everything seems to be falling into place. She has the experience, the financial means, a reputable company backing her, and has now found the prime location for her endeavor. All she has to do is win the bid for the land.

There is only one problem. She is bidding against DDGC... Drop Dead Gorgeous Competition.

Greek playboy Alexandros Strintzaris is not only extremely charming, but wealthy, powerful, and has a reputation for always getting what he wants. Known for his ruthlessness in business, he has set his sites on more than just winning the land bid... he wants Athena as well. Though she thwarts his advances at every turn, he is undaunted. She can try to run, she can try to hide, but he refuses to let her ignore the growing attraction between them. He might be Greek, but he's going to make her see that business as nothing to do with pleasure, and that some rules are meant to be broken.

What Alexandros doesn't realize is that Athena is not working for the competition. She IS the competition. Will this change the way he feels?

You'll have to read this fabulous book to find out.

Author Aleka Nakis has done it again! Much like her first book, Eyes of the Dead, the author paints pictures with her words and transports the reader (yet again) to another exotic locale... This trip takes us to the island of Santorini. Through the eyes of Athena, we get to explore this beautiful island while enjoying a sizzling romantic tale. What I also love is that Ms. Nakis, who's Greek American herself, takes the time to give the reader honest glimpses of Greek family customs and traditions, and shares aspects of her native culture (descriptions of local food, tidbits of history, references to mythology, etc.) She flawlessly weaves all these things into her story without bogging it down.

If her book doesn't get you to plan your next vacation in Greece, then I recommend that you stop by The Greek Rule MySpace page (www.myspace.com/greekrule) so you can thumb through her pictures of Santorini and see what you'd be missing.

I just hope there are more books like this to come. The author hints, via references to Athena's eligible brothers and a wonderful excerpt from an upcoming book called "The Summer Deal", that we might be hearing more about the Lakis siblings in the near future.
