5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for the earth friendly mother or mother-to-be!
I am in love with this book! Whether you have been going green for years, or are totally new to the concept, this book is amazing. It talks about being organic during your pregnancy but I just bought it (my daughter is 6 months old) and I am still finding it to be extremely useful! It lets you take baby steps, instead of being bombarded with information. It would make a...

For people that are already interested in living green and have done their research, this book will offer absolutely nothing new. It's apparent that the author is a former model vs. a scientific expert as the first few chapters deal with subjects like cosmetics and perfumes instead of focusing on more baby-related, source-driven topics. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great info for pregnancy and beyond, October 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The title says it all, I've learned a lot about being green that does not necessarily have to do with being pregnant. I have yet to read the green baby part, as the baby is not here yet, but I imagine it will be equally helpful and informative.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for every mom, August 22, 2009
This review is from: Green Babies, Sage Moms: The Ultimate Guide to Raising Your Organic Baby (Paperback)
A great, very detailed description of what it takes to raise baby in a green household, written by an ex-model who shows you can be fashionable and beautiful and still do what it takes to create a safe, green home for baby and a toxin-free world for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Read for Moms-To-Be, August 3, 2009
This review is from: Green Babies, Sage Moms: The Ultimate Guide to Raising Your Organic Baby (Paperback)
I was already very interested in green living and as an expectant first-time mother, wanted to make sure I was a full bottle on doing right by my baby, myself and the environment. I was surprised by how many things I hadn't thought of that could potentially harm my baby, and the simple steps I could take to minimize that risk. But it wasn't all scaremongering, there are lots of practical, science-based and real-life examples and advice from a range of experts and everyday moms, as well as different levels of "greenness" you can consider implementing. After incorporating many of the recommendations into my lifestyle and preparations for baby, I feel much more confident that I am doing best by my growing family -- and what mother wouldn't want to do that? Every parent and parent-to-be should read this easy-to-read book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Worth it!!, November 16, 2008

This review is from: Green Babies, Sage Moms: The Ultimate Guide to Raising Your Organic Baby (Paperback)
I absolutely loved this book. The author writes in a very reader friendly way and gives TONS of tips on going green (to all different extents). I disagree with the previous commenter who said that the author seemed to just be trying to scare people into changes their ways instead of inspiring them, I think it was very much the opposite. I can agree with her on what she said about product recomendations, much of it did feel like she had a stake in the product. Other than those two complaints (which are both small ones) though, I wouldn't have anything negative to say about this book and would DEFINITELY suggest buying it, used of course! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful overview of green parenting topics, July 17, 2008

I felt this book was a good introduction to topics - from caring for yourself during pregnancy to diapering, green cleaners, clothing, and organic food - that are of concern to new parents wanting to go green and/or do what they can to keep their new baby safe and healthy.

The author spends several pages on each topic overview, each of which includes tips and advice for making solid green parenting decisions, anecdotes from health professionals, parents, and green products pioneers, and product suggestions that relate to each topic.

The book will probably have the greatest appeal to parents who are new to parenting, in general, or to those who want to learn more about raising their child with an organic lifestyle and products. It is a useful companion guide to other pregnancy resources and would make a great gift for new parents.

This book is an easy to follow guide for the green challenged. I am an avid recycler, but didn't know about products that go into and onto our bodies. Green Babies, Sage Moms provides great info and suggestions about how to improve your organic quest with varying degrees of "green"dom.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nothing New, Semi-Alarmist, June 27, 2010
For people that are already interested in living green and have done their research, this book will offer absolutely nothing new. It's apparent that the author is a former model vs. a scientific expert as the first few chapters deal with subjects like cosmetics and perfumes instead of focusing on more baby-related, source-driven topics. She does include "green guru" advice sections, but these mostly allow CEOs of environmentally-friendly companies to sell their products instead of give you unbiased, scientific advice. For someone that is new to living green, there are some good tips that have been pulled together from various sources (none of which are sited). These can be helpful. There's also quite a bit of rhetoric on all the scary things hiding in just about every product. I found this very disconcerting and worry about whether someone just starting to live green would give up completely upon reading this book. I recommend finding a different book to read when trying to raise an "organic baby".

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy Guide, March 13, 2008
When I got pregnant, I knew I needed a little help, that even my trusty book on organic living, Harmonious Environment: Beautify, Detoxify and Energize Your Life, Your Home and Your Planet wouldn't be enough.

Sure enough, Green Babies, Sage Moms makes me feel confident that I will make the right choices for my baby. Based on the recommendations, I know how to take care of myself during pregnancy and I'm picking out the furniture, bedding and so on for my baby. Can't wait for my green baby shower!

Babies are so vulnerable and having this book is exactly what I need to feel confident!
