My 88-year-old father grew up in Wisconsin. He's a lifelong Packer fan. I haven't seen or read the book, but he's absolutely enthralled by it. We talk frequently, and he brings the book up often. Every page has a memory for him.

So, don't take my word for it: take the word of a man who watched Don Hutson catch passes on blustery Green Bay Sundays.

I purchased this book for my brother as a Christmas present. Upon receiving the book I shared it with several fans and they were so excited. I thought it was a great book and know that my brother is going to Love It!!!! We have been Packer fans since the 60's.

Simply stated at the outset, "Green Bay Packers: The Complete Illustrated History" should be considered a compulsory acquisition by every highschool and community library in the Badger State. Profusely illustrated throughout, Don Gulbrandsen's definitive history of Wisconsin's preeminent professional football team is a superbly written, informed and informative sports history that will entertain and educate readers with its many biographical vignettes of the men who played, coached and managed one of the truly great all time American football teams from its inception down to the present day. "Green Bay Packers: The Complete Illustrated History" is a 'must read' and a 'must have' for all dedicated 'Packer' fans.

ive been a packer fan since the lombardi era, but only vaguely knew the pre-50s history of this franchise and players, this is a well researched and informative history of the earlier years . there are lots of pics and sidebars highlighting the packers own hall nof fame greats, as well as how the fans and citizens of green bay have stuck by this team through many trials and financial hardships . in the fight for survival,( that is the money generated to keep a pro franchise in town), this book exposes the great character and love of a city and its inhabitants to support above and beyond the call of duty, the glory as well as the lean times , my love for this, the last of the small town teams from the beginnings of the nfl has renewed my passion and makes me want to move to green bay to live the dream, unique among the nfl and at the top!!!!!!!!!

For those of us, diehard Green Bay Packer fans Don Gulbrandsen truly has
created the most complete and illustrated history of the Green Bay Packers. What a treasure of information filled with every Packer legend!! A shrine that every Packer fan will love from the days of Lambeau to Favre with all the photo highlights from each era. The forward by LeRoy Butler is refreshing, honest and a tribute to his fans! I got chills reliving all the incredible memories and my eyes welled with tears during some of my favorite Packer Moments: from the Ice Bowl, to trips to the Super Bowl, to the highlights of all my favorite Packer's, to Brett Favre. For Favre fans, Gulbrandsen does a great job of highlighting his greatness from his miracle performance on Monday Night in Oakland to his wife's battle with Breast Cancer and more tragedy in-between. The book ends the 2006 season with Brett's emotional national interview at the end of the Bears Game and the announcement that he was coming back for another season. So it definitely opens the door for another Gulbrandsen book...I'll be waiting!

I am a long time Packers fan bor and bred on the west coast. Often people will wonder why I am a Packers fan, why not follow one of the NFL's west coast teams. First, I love NFL football. Second, I love the history of the NFL. Watching old footage of snow game with guys who have frozen chunks of sod lodged into their facemasks and steam billowing from their mouths; that's what football is all about. Naturally, I gravitated to liking the Packers.

This book is a great chronological overview of the history of the Packers. From early formative years with Curly Lambeau to the Favre era the book illustrates the seasons (grouping them by decades) and highlights many of the Packer greats. Along with a recounting of what was happening on the field the book reads much like a story of the Packers, as a team, and what was happening off the field. Learning some of the facts during their time in receivership and their interactions with the fledging NFL gives more story to their fabled history.

The book also goes one step further and places the reader into the community. Not being from the midwest it really helps to understand more about the community of Green Bay (and Wisconsin in general), to really understand their love of the Packers.

While the book is informative it is not overbearing. You don't feel overwhelmed by statistics or wordy dialog regarding each game. Along with the great story are great pictures. Several old photos of items from the early years are displayed in th book, and only help the reader further understand the Packer legend.

This is a great book, for any Packer fan or football fan and is a great coffee table book.

Great book, full of great pictures, information, and a must have for any Packer fan! Larger then I thought, Money well spent.

I actually got two of these books: one as a present and one for me. The book is a nice hard cover book of the history of the Green Bay Packers. If you are a Packer Enthusiast this is a great book to own.

This book gives a comprehensive history of Green Bay Packers from the beginning. It highlights great players and coaches. It is hard to put down.

Very good reading for a Green Bay Packer fan.

This was on my son-in-laws Christmas List. Searched many sites including Ebay and it was the least expensive on Amazon, plus it qualified for free shipping..Can't ask for more than that :)
