Dope mixtape,

I dunno how people gave this 2 or 3 stars. "Boring beats'??? No dope beats, if you appreciated real hip hop you'd appreciate this CD. The beats are sick, mid 90's hip hop that will have u chilled out, mixed with the sick, crazy rhymes of Ill Bill, Goretex, and Sabac. I hope Nuclear Truth is half as good as this because I was very satisfied with this album, as well as Future is Now- Word up Peace

All in all, I found the CD slightly above average. Mostly freestyles, and previously released material. It's actually a really good collection of songs, but to most of us familiar with The Future Is Now there isn't any comparison. As for the DVD, I loved it. Tons of live footage, a couple of videos, and the group talking about how it all came together. To sum it all up this project is definitley worth picking up for any Non Phixion fan, to hold you over til their new album drops this fall.

Buy it for the DVD and CD,

Like another reviewer already said, this is more of a mixtape or freestyle compilation than an actual album. There are some seriously dope verssu droped by Non-Phixion and associates, but I think the highlight of this is the DVD.
Rather than just a few live performances, the DVD offers extensive interviews with all the NP emcees, DJ Eclipse, Uncle Howie, and Q-Unique and Necro also make appearances. You get the entire Non-Phixion story, some interesting anecdotes, and Ill Bill's account of when he was a stripper. Buy "The Future is Now" if you are just getting into NP, but this is also a nice addition to any collection.

This album is nothing like I expected. The DVD is awesome though, so it makes it a worthwhile purchase if your a goon. I didnt like how most of the songs though are under 1 minute, and "Skum" my favorite song on the cd (and on uncle howie sample fall 04) was cut off by a minute to go into some freestyle. I like the freestyles but I'd rather hear Non Phixion doing songs instead of freestyles. I think that it was just to hold goons over til the next album.

it took me a while to get into this album, but there are a few EXCELLENT songs on here..especially the hidden track by ill bill. all the freestyles were tight, and lots of songs were socially deep and confronted issues of police brutality and american imperialism.i cant wait till their 2nd full album drops in fall 2004

Less Green Than You'd Think,

I was surprised by this album, since i'm not a huge mixtape fan or anything i pretty much expected this cd to be full of garbage tracks not good enough for any album. However, upon hearing the single "Caught Between Worlds" I decided to buy this cd and give it a chance. Non-Phixion's core audience will surely notice the obvious difference in lyricism, as The Future Is Now was as bullet riddled and bloody as it was political, this cd is filled with much of their material from before they found their home on Uncle Howie Records (thus most of the lyrics were influenced by their mentor Mc Serch, who was more fond of Non-Phixion's political tirades than murderous mic approach). The freestyles ARE phenomenal, however most of the beats are unmixed and sometimes make the words unintelligible. But the production isn't necessarily too bad (definitely check out Goretex's "Skum", it's simply incredible). Also noteworthy is Ill Bill's solo track (a hidden bonus song) God Is An Athiest. However, with most of the songs being very short and sounding quite unmastered, this cd suffers only from the time period most of the material was recorded in. Die-hard Non-Phixion fans such as myself should purchase this just for a glimpse into their evolution, but casual fans of underground rap should probably steer clear.

Green,

The Green CD has some really tight rhyming by Non Phixion, but I have a feeling that some people who like The Future is Now won't feel the production; it's not horrible, in fact, there are some real tight beats, but it isn't up to the caliber of The Future is Now. In particular, the beat on We All Bleed is excellent (thus far probably my favorite track on the album).Any shortcomings can easily be forgiven though, because the accompanying Green DVD more than makes up for it. It has 2 hours of interviews, videos, and live performances. The three music videos are all hot: Rock Stars, 14 Years of Rap (it's a psuedo battle with the Arsonists), and Suicide Bomb. The concert performance of Black Helicopters is amazing. The interviews of Ill Bill, Sabac, Goretex, DJ Eclipse, and Uncle Howie are interesting and (in many cases) very funny. I wish they had spent some more time interviewing Necro (he only appears briefly). This album is definitely worth picking up for the DVD alone.

Amazing mixtape,

This mixtape really shows off how dope Goretex and Ill Bill were. Not that Sabac wasn't as well but he wasn't on nearly as many songs. The best song is Food but they're ALL dope. no weak songs at all plus the DVD was a great bonus. go find it!

Classic, plain and simple. The trio brings straight heat the whole album. Great beats and rhymes from beginning to end.
