WEEK 1 - I purchased this product from EFL and have now taken it for a week. During this time I have been involved in the reviews that have been posted regarding because I have had concerns about the product. I have also taken the time to speak with the CEO of EFL and let him know that I would give an honest evaluation of the product and would change my review if my experience changes. In order to give full disclosure, I did include the companies CEO response to me under Scott W. review in the comments section. As I expressed to him, I'm not interested in hurting his company but I am interested in receiving the product as described and that I paid for. With a week of experience under my belt I feel I have enough information to start conveying my experience.

First, I think it is important to know my lifestyle as it would relate to how this product works. I am a healthy individual who eats a clean diet and exercises five days a week. I take my health pretty seriously but I do not lean too far towards health that I don't enjoy my life (not a health addict). I live a life of moderation. In addition, I spend a considerable amount of time reading about health, nutrition and supplementation. With regards to my taking the EFL product, I have followed the instructions of two capsules daily 1/2 hour before meal (being breakfast and lunch).

I too have opened two of the capsules and will report that the taste is not as described by numerous websites providing information about Green Coffee Bean Extract. In addition, I have checked with several coffee companies that provide raw green coffee beans and their description of the raw product taste is bitter. As others have described, the product has a slightly sweet but powdery chocolate flavor.

In the week that I have taken this product I have not experienced any weight loss. I will continue to take this product for another week to see if anything changes and will report my experience and change my rating if necessary.

WEEK 2 UPDATE - I have completed the second week of the Maxx Green Coffee Bean Extract and unfortunately I have not experienced anything different from the first week. No weight loss. I need to stay with my original rating.

I did purchase Pure Green Coffee Bean Extract by Pure Health and will start taking product today to see if there is any comparable difference between the two products results. I will post an update in a week. In comparing the two products, I also broke open one of Pure Health's capsules and the taste between the two products were completely different. Pure Health's content color was similar to Maxx's but the taste had a bitter note hitting your tongue and the after taste did not have a similar flavor.

Honestly, I have been reading all of the reviews on this product and what is concerning to me is this. Half are 5 stars and half are 1 star. It seems highly unlikely that it would be one or the other with not much in between? Something is off.

WEEK 3 UPDATE - OK. Well, as I had mentioned in my previous post, I did purchase Pure Green Coffee Bean Extract by Pure Health last week and did take it through today. This week has been a little less stable diet wise and I haven't eaten as healthy as I usually do. With that, I actually did lose 2 lbs. I am going to take one more week and report back on whether there is a consistent loss, additional loss or whether I returned to normal weight.

WEEK 4 FINAL UPDATE - I continued to take the Pure Green Coffee Bean Extract by Pure Health. In total between the two weeks I have lost 3.5 lbs. Even under non-ideal eating and exercising conditions. This is a different experience than while on Maxx.

Before closing, I would like to add one bit of additional information. The study that was completed by the University of Scranton Pennsylvania over the 22 week period using 16 substantially overweight subjects in their early to mid 20's was a randomized double blind cross over study where each patient was administered either 700mg, 1050mg or a placebo for a six week period of time (within the 22 week period). The information provided above by EFL states that the the study participants lost an average of .77 lbs per week which is not accurate. While the participants were on the placebo they lost no weight and substantially more weight while on the 1050mg, where the average was 1.5 - 2 lbs. Here is the link to an excerpt of the study. The same link I provided to the CEO of EFL.

You read so much on how it has such a bitter taste. I noticed that after I purchased and tried this product that it had no bitter taste whatsoever. I came back to read the reviews, and someone else pointed out that they broke one open and tasted it. So, I did the same thing and it tasted sweet. Now I am going out to the local vitamin store to see if I can find another brand of 100% Pure Green Coffee Extract and try the taste to compare. I will keep everyone posted.

I went out and bought Genesis Today 100% Green Coffee Bean from a local vitamin shop. What a hugh difference in taste and color.

First, the color:
Genesis Today's brand-A greenish brown color.
Maxx Brand-A Chocolate Brown color with crushed white flakes.

Second, the taste:
Genesis Today's brand-Very bitter...terrible tasting stuff.
Maxx Brand- A sweet chocolate mocha instant coffee taste.

I am not sure what I have with the Maxx brand, but I am betting that the Genesis Today brand is the real deal.

I saw this supplement on Dr. Oz show. Best price I found online for green coffee bean extract and also these caps were 800 mg each, the dosage recommended. All the other caps I found were 400 mg each so these will last longer and you only need one cap before meals instead of 2. I've been using the coffee bean extract for 2 weeks now and have lost an average of 2 pounds each week. (1.8 lbs 1st week, 2.2 lbs 2nd week.) I have been on Weight Watchers for several months and was feeling "stuck" losing a little one week and gaining a little the next week, and getting frustrated. Now I feel confident that I can reach my weight loss goal...only ten pounds to go!!

If you open a capsule and taste the powder and it taste like chocolate, IT IS NOT 100% PURE GREEN COFFEE EXTRACT!! I don't care who the manufacturer is, they should all have the same appearance and flavor in their pure form! The flavor only changes when there have been changes made to the extract. At that point, it is not 100% pure green coffee extract. The appearance should be yellowish color, not one that looks like instant hot chocolate or chocolate protein shake. It should have a bitter taste and not sweet in any way! 100% Pure Green Coffee Bean Extract is naturally lower in caffeine and according to it's review by the doctor, it only has the caffeine of about a 1/2 a cup of coffee. If you are sensitive to caffeine, you should not take this product. I purchased this product and I can attest that it taste like a chocolate protein shake. I have also purchased another brand that taste bitter and works great. I am not trying to promote someone else's products on this review, so I will not mention brands. I have had conversations with the seller about the Cert of Analysis that is provided in one of the pictures, and it does not give the info that a typical analysis report gives. I do not recommend this product from this seller as I do believe there are other ingredients that are not being revealed to the consumer. There are two brands that reputable for having 100% pure green coffee extract.

After doing a little more research on the pure green bean extract I found out about counterfeit products. Too late for me, I I did as directed broke open a capsule and mine was sweet tasted like hot chocolate.....No wonder no results were seen like Dr. Oz said. My daughter also got stung by this Product....Buyer Beware...pure green bean extract is supposed to be a bitter taste. Money doesn't grow on trees and this is a big Rip Off!! I am so upse I could scream!

I have tried a lot of diets. In my experience none work unless the dieter is willing to exchange sugar, fat, and starch in favor of protein, vegetables, and fruit AND is willing to engage in moderate exercise i.e. there is no magic bullet. If we continue to eat "wrong" and continue to loll on the pillows we won't lose weight. That said I found this product to be extremely helpful. It does curb appetite. It does seem to amp up metabolism. It keeps energy level high without going into "twitchy" territory. These factors make it much easier to keep the new habits of eating healthy and maintaining an exercise routine (for me that's 25 minutes per day of yoga).
I found this product to be worth the cost and it had the added benefit of improving quality of skin and hair-even my husband noticed. It is effective enough that I have re-ordered the product from Amazon.

I've been on a diet of controlled calories and exercise. I was losing weight fine but wanted to do everything I could for best results. So I jumped on the Green Coffee Bean bandwagon. After gaining a pound after being on this green coffee bean extract cap, I see it didn't help. But this kind of stuff happens when your on a diet. I wasn't blaming the capsule for the weight gain but I couldn't thank it either. So I was taking my next capsule this morning and said I wonder if it's really green or bitter like they say it should be. I opened the cap and tasted the inside and guess what! It taste like Vienna Swiss that flavored instant coffee you buy in a square can. I have heard that green coffee beans are so bitter that they have to be put in capsule form for people to digest. Now I don't believe I paid for what the label says it provides. Be careful of fake paid reviews and product that ships so fast when other vitamin and supplement companies are taking weeks to get true green coffee bean extract to you. I'm just saying.... Bust open the capsule!

I am disappointed because I purchased 7 bottles (under separate orders), and it does not work because it is just green coffee.
I contacted the company and they told me they needed to sell out this older version, to make way for the new products. However, their explanation was not acceptable. In addition, Amazon stated this product contains 45% cargenic acid, but when the product arrived, it did NOT have it on the label. Plus this product does not work because of that fact. I want an exchange or full refund on all seven bottles. (three on my Mastercard, and four on my mother's visa, under lucile acc).
And please email me with instrutions on what to do, and when will our credit be issued?
thx

I rated this at four stars because I want to test it fully. Since starting this about 3 weeks ago I have lost right at 5 lbs. My weight is very stable so it is a true loss and this is all I have done differently. I also notice a better energy level. An impending physical will determine any benefit for blood sugar.

The main reason for this review is all of the comments regarding the taste of green coffee beans. I roast coffee and have several varieties of green coffee at my disposal, mostly Arabicas but including some robusta. I have made my own extract by steeping ground green beans in very hot water for 30 minutes. It tasted very green. Even the smell of green coffee doesn't have a bitter component. Sorry to dispel the rumor but green coffee does in fact have a rather sweet taste but not sugary. When processed for extract it does lose its green color. Fresh coffee beans taste organic but not bitter at all. That includes quality robusta beans. Processing is what changes the flavor just as roasting does. I can roast a blend of coffees you would swear have chocolate flavoring in them and are sweet like they have been sugared. The blend is called Mocha Java and the original contains nothing but fine quality Arabica beans, just like this preparation claims. If you read the comments by the manufacturer, you will discover that taste is also explained there. The only comment I can make about robusta's bitterness is that it definitely takes on a bite when roasted which is why it is used sparingly in quality blended espresso roasts for body and crema. It is also why most canned coffee tastes bitter or sour since it is cheap and used in quantity. Just so you know.

This pill really suppresses your appetite. I am very impressed with this product. I was worried about the caffeine, but it did not affect me at all. No problems sleeping.
