Slick Tabletop can crusher,
By
This review is from: EZ Can Crusher
After reading some of the reviews I thought I would show exactly how the crusher works. Its really very easy. Its shown on a recycle bin in this video but you can leave it on a table top or counter top and do the same thing. It only crushes standard 12 oz cans so if you want to crush other cans then you will have to find a different can crusher. There are several other types that will work. This unit is totally plastic so there is no worry about rust. You can actually wash it in the sink with soap and water. I would suggest some kind of lubricant afterwards though. All in all as easy to use can crusher that is totally portable.

I'm a strict aluminum recycler, but I don't have a place to permanently mount a crusher, so I was excited to find this free-standing compact model.
Unfortunately, it's just not very usable. Two big issues: 1. It requires more effort than you'd expect. It smashes cans from the side, rather than the top, in a two step process: Dent, then fold. It works a little better if you dent the can yourself while loading it, but even then, it takes a lot of pressure to get the can ends folded flat. If you have a large recycling bin, you won't mind. But if you have room for a large bin, you've probably got room for a sturdy wall-mounted can smasher. 2. It is ONLY good for bog-standard American 12oz cans. Tall tea or beer cans, and even variant 12oz soda cans, don't fit. Slim 10oz energy drink cans just slide out the back, vaguely dented. I don't buy the 90- or 100-calorie Coke cans, but it's clear that they wouldn't work either. I found myself smashing cans with my feet on the back porch again after a couple of weeks. Ugh, so boring, but less annoying than using the smasher. If I'd kept the packaging I probably would have returned it. To be fair, this is a good, well-made product. It's so solid that I feel bad turning in a negative review. However, it just doesn't suit the realities of my household, so I can't recommend it.

My wife and I hated the idea of having to install one of the other popular can crushers on the wall of our kitchen and, frankly, dreaded even worse, the idea of having to go out the garage to crush all the cans that regularly collect on the kitchen counter top, next to the sink.
This crusher is nice, in that it is completely portable, and can be stowed away when not in use. It does take a bit of a 'touch' to get the cans lined up well enough to 'pull-n'smash', but if you have an IQ in the neighborhood of triple digits or more? It's a piece of cake. Great product.

I got this can crusher because I needed it to be portable (not wall mounted).
This is a sturdy piece of equipment and I can use it on the counter and then stow it away in a cabinet when I don't need it.

The can crusher works ok, if you are not careful you will pinch your fingers. It started to squeak after about 20 cans so I sprayed it with WD 40. It works alot better if you mount it to a piece of wood. It's kind of over priced.

Doesn't work very well,
This review is from: EZ Can Crusher
I purchased this can crusher because I did NOT want a wall-mounted crusher. K. Exline has already written an excellent review explaining why this crusher simply doesn't work well, but it bears repeating: this can crusher requires more time and effort than a wall unit, and it can't handle non-standard sized cans. The crusher doesn't even do all the work for you; it sort of smashes the can from the side, and to get the can truly flat you have to remove it from the crusher and stomp on it. When I pressed hard on the handle to crush the can, it would make an ominous creaking sound, as though it was being strained almost to the breaking point, which made me afraid that it would be easily broken. I only used this can crusher for a few weeks before I got tired of the extra work and just bought a wall-mounted crusher, which I should have done from the beginning. The wall-mounted crushers are sturdy metal and cost about 50% less, too.

This can crusher's main advantage over others is it does not need to be mounted on a wall. The vertical can crushers probably do a better job of reducing the size of the crushed can to its smallest size but they all need to be wall mounted. I wanted something I could store under my sink and haul it out any time I wanted to crush a can. With this crusher, the can lays on its side and the center part of the can is mashed flat and the two ends of the can are folded over on top of the center portion. It doesn't reduce the size of the can as much as I had hoped but is certainly adequate.Surprisingly the entire thing is made of polycarbonate (or some similar hard plastic material) but seems to be heavy duty and plenty durable.

This handy, portable compacter/can-crusher is fantastic! Makes recycling so much easier because you can haul so many more cans to the curb with fewer contains for them!
