This review is from: Green Eggs and Hamadeus (Audio CD)
Rob Kapilow is a talented composer and a wonderfully lively guide to classical music. His "What Makes It Great?" series of lecture-recitals is always captivating, and he shows this talent here (along with his composer chops) in a CD that I'm giving to my preschool-age granddaughters.
It combines his own imaginative and funny setting of Dr Seuss's "Green Eggs and Ham" (which someone has described as the only opera for which a 4-year-old will know the libretto by heart!) with Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik on a single disk. Both works are preceded by a few minutes of his inviting way of guiding the new listener into actually HEARING the music--very friendly, non-technical, effective. Totally delicious! A great way to help a child fall in love with music. |
