5.0 out of 5 stars Short review -- I'm going for a nap
I slept in hammocks for years, and have always wanted one that would fit into a house and not pull the door frames down. On Father's Day, I got my wish. The XChair does exactly what it claims. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good looking, but doesn't worth the price
Pros:
My family and friends love the style of this X-Chair. It is very compact, and I can set it almost anywhere in my house. It is comfortable and functional. I end up using it more than my $1000 couch.

Cons:
The price is too high. It should be under $100 based on the following problems: 1) the metal stand makes a lot of noise, 2) the cotton...

It takes no time -- and no tools -- to assemble, it's stable and robust, and the hammock adjusts from swinging chair to full length (at least for my 5' 10" frame) with a wriggle or two.

Gadgets rarely live up to their hype -- yes, Roomba, I'm talking to you -- but the XChair is everything it says it is. I'm getting one for the office...

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this thing!, July 29, 2006

This is on my short list of greatest inventions, right next to the wheel and sliced bread.

Setup was super easy, I had it together in minutes. The box it came in was a bit heavy though.

I've always wanted a hammock, but never had the room for it. This one takes up just as much space as the lounge chair it replaces (maybe even a bit less). It is a definite conversation starter when you have guests over who see it for the first time.

For comfort, you really can't beat a hammock and this is no exception. Great to just sit in and relax. I actually look forward to sitting in the chair after work or on the weekends.

Like any hammock, you can't just jump into it, you have to lower yourself in. To adjust the seating angle you skooch your rearend closer to the front of the hammock for a more reclined angle, or skooch further back for a more upright angle. It really only holds one full-grown person, although maybe two kids can sit in it side by side.

All the reviews are correct. This set up in less than 10 minutes - it took longer to unpack than to set up. Its fast, needs NO tools, and easy. It takes up a small footprint so its great for small decks or a balcony area; unlike the full bed style hammocks, and has more options for how you want to sit or lie in it. One suggestion - supervise newbies or people with less agility or corrdination the first time they get in/out.

I have on older model that needed screws, but this is still an awesome idea. Especially in an apartment where I can't just drill holes in the ceiling.... =0

4.0 out of 5 stars Loves it!, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Green Eggs and Hammocks Xchair-Indoor/Outdoor Hammock and Stand (Lawn & Patio)
I was a leery about this because for a frame and hammock chair it is significantly low in price. But, so far we are very happy with this!
We bought it for my son with special needs for Xmas...it took only about 5 minutes to put together. He loves swinging in this! It is sturdy...but a wee bit top heavy and can tip over a little easier than I would like. (not while sitting in it properly!!)
But truly a great find!!!
I am thinking about buying a couple of more for my deck in the Summer!

The price is too high. It should be under $100 based on the following problems: 1) the metal stand makes a lot of noise, 2) the cotton hammock gets thinner and sinks lower each day.

I received this chair for Christmas (2006) and have enjoyed it tremendously! It is very comfortable to sit or lay in. I keep it by my bookshelf to sit and read in. This chair is well made and the ropes are soft. When you sit in this chair you feel safe and at home!

2010 Update - 4 years later and I still love this hammock! I keep it indoors and love to lounge around in it, reading books and watching movies.

5.0 out of 5 stars This chair is ok, August 22, 2006
This review is from: Green Eggs and Hammocks Xchair-Indoor/Outdoor Hammock and Stand (Lawn & Patio)
Just got done setting it up on my apartment balcony and it is great! Already told one of my neighbors about it. Setup was VERY easy, 5 minutes. Yes it is heavy, but with the free shipping, dont worry. That weight is the metal spars, and they are very sturdy. I hope they sell a replacement hammock, as the frame looks like it will last years. It is very comfortable, I almost fell alseep in it while testing it out after setup! My only gripe is that the part where you put your head is a bit to upright for me, I was hoping for a more reclined position, but scootching around in it make it better. The hammock itself is cotton, very comfortable and sturdy, I just hope when it rains that it doesn't shrink weird. I paid 120, so at 90....get it! The most comfortable hammock I have ever been in. No bull.

Jan 09 update
I take the previous back, mostly. Its ok, but I have since gotten rid of it with no regrets. Max 6ft tall for comfort. Would not buy again.

This was very easy to assemble, has a really nice footprint, and is very, very comfortable. The hammock is well-made and easy to remove for rainy days so it will last longer.

4.0 out of 5 stars a new spin on hammocks, July 6, 2006

this hammock is great and seating is very similar to those hanging ceiling chair hammocks. the reclining feature is not all that great basically you just extend your legs and its the weaved rope that expands and becomes the hammock bed. the reclined position is uncomfortable after a while because you cannot lay flat like a traditional hammock. takes 5 minutes to assemble no screws required, creaks a little when you swing and has balence issues when you swing to far, comes in a very dark green color, package weight is 50lbs, fits great into any corner.
