I aleady own a wind-up flashlight but it always seems like such a chore to wind the thing up. (recharge it's batteries)I bought a few of these for gifts and one for myself. At $10 each they seemed like a bargain if they offered up any level of brightness. I opened up the obligatory clamshell packaging and placed it sunnyside up under my desk lamp for a few hours to give it a fighting chance at having a charge. While I doubt you can damage your retina with one of these, It was very bright on my daylight acclimated eyes and should offer plenty of light to find a lost remote or whatever you need a light for at that moment. I've found that run times on flashlights are almost irrelevant for most uses, since all but the biggest projects involve less than five minutes of use at any given time. I've more often had to deal with batteries that require a recharge or a fresh wind. A daily solar top-off should meet all my most demanding needs. They seem fairly well built, but I can't say much about durability on day one. I would be surprised if it doesn't last at least a year or two, depending on battery type and how much heat it's exposed to. As an Amazon prime member it always bugs me to have to pay extra for shipping but even with that hurdle, I have no regrets at this time.

I've owned this light for at least six months now and I love it. It is small and very easy to hold. I had it packed up in a box for a few weeks after I moved and it still worked, without sunlight all that time. In fact, I never put it by the window anymore. It gets enough light just sitting around the house, which makes it super convenient. I will truly never buy a battery powered flashlight again. The only problem is that I wish it was brighter, but even so, it is great for navigating around the house in the dark, peeking behind furniture, etc. I would highly recommend this flashlight to anyone, it is WELL worth the money- which is another plus, that I didn't have to pay much at all for it!

I bought this for $5 or so. Pretty cheap feeling. For price though, ok I guess. Not very bright.

flashlights work but weak batteries,
This review is from: The 'Green' Flashlight - 5 Bright LED SOLAR-Charged!
I bought two of these flashlights for reading in bed. One of them works for about 7 minutes. The other one is good for 10-15 minutes. The batteries are just too weak compared with other bigger solar flashlights.

I bought this more than six months ago and it has been one of my coolest toys. I show it off to all my friends to show them what solar power can do. It always works and is extremely bright and small. It also is amazingly light, terrific to have in a sleeping bag or a coat pocket. Makes more sense to me than a wind up flash light. If you love buying and storing batteries and love to throw them away improperly or drive around looking for a place that accepts them for disposal, or if you like spending unnecessary money on batteries you don't need just so you can polute the earth, or if you like to carefully limit your use of light in a long blackout or camping trip out of concern you'll run out of batteries, or if you love hauling batteries in and out of backcountry in your backpack, or if you like carrying around heavy metal mag-lights in your pocket that are always getting dimmer, then don't buy this flashlight. But if you're one of the cool guys you'll need this. One other cool thing about the 'Green' Flashlight is the compass on the back. If I were all alone on a desert Island I would at least want my 'Green' Flashlight and my Kershaw one-handed pocket knife. Oh yea and a lighter. What else does a die-hard minimalist-camping-survivalist really need?

Sufficiently bright to poke around in a car engine after dark, those little LEDs definitely generate a decent light. I bought this specifically to leave in my car so I'd always have a charged flashlight when needed, and so far I'm quite happy with it. The only poor design issue is the side panels made of rubber seem to shrink over time (due to age and being in a hot car, no doubt) so they are now loose and can fall off. I could probably fix this with a little glue, but it's not the best design. However, it doesn't affect the functionality at all and the flashlight does everything I wanted it for (ie, stays charged and gives off light).

Ordered 2. Came quickly. Charged in a day. Compass fell out of one of them, but I re-glued it easily. Switch is a little hard to find. Gives enough light to get around in the dark (and to read the impossible-to-read screen on my printer).

I have had this for a 3-4 years now. Gave it to my mother in India (because there is no shortage of sun there). It has stopped charging now. Had to throw it away.

This really holds its charge. Excellent to know that there will be light even if the power goes out. Amazing little solar cell.

Nice smaller flashlight, but lightweight and fragile,
This review is from: The 'Green' Flashlight - 5 Bright LED SOLAR-Charged!
Bought 2 of these, price was reasonable. Charge up nicely in the sun, light pretty bright considering there size. Biggest problem is that they break if you drop it. The panels collapse inside the flashlight and then you might as well throw it away.
