The Rubber Snakes worked to keep birds away.

It's a good idea to warn family members and visiting friends that there are fake snakes in your yard and trees.
Ted Brekke
Not the most realistic looking but then again not the most expensive either.

I give these snakes a 4 star because they do scare and keep the squirrels out of my garden, and the birds out of my shed. You do have to move them around in the garden. I put some in the rafters of my shed where birds were nesting, a word of caution, don't forget they are there when you climb up there to do something like I did. I nearly fell off the ladder...lol, before I realized I put them up there but they were no more birds nesting in my shed.

I would recommend these to anyone having problems with squirrels or birds.

We have had pigeons that roost on our roof and leave large amounts of residue on our driveway. These fake snakes so far have convinced them to go elsewhare.

We live in a rural area and I'm tired of fighting squirrels AND birds to harvest what I grow (my tomatoes and blueberries in particular). Visited a mushroom "farm" a couple weeks ago and the guy had fake snakes all over the place. Every day, when he walks his property, he tosses the snakes to new locations. Since his property backs up to a National Forest, he had a terrible time with squirrel predation when he started his little eco-farm. Now, the fake snakes keep the squirrels away. YAY! I came home from that trip and bought a dozen of these snakes, painted them bright green with decorative enamel paint that you can buy for about a dollar a bottle, added bright red or yellow to the eyes (and made the eyes bigger) and even added some dull red coloration to a couple of the snakes. I move them every day and thus far, the birds and squirrels are giving my "crops" a wide berth. Received my second order of snakes today and have them painted and ready to go outside tomorrow.

Why paint them? The bright colors and big eyes are easily seen from a distance, which means the predators don't come too close to examine them. The snakes aren't 22" long unless you stretch them out (and they won't stay that way) but they curl beautifully in and around the blueberries on the bushes and all through the tomato plants. Nearly scared my husband to death the first day I stuck them in the tomato plants! lol

After pricing larger snakes and reading the reviews on them, I decided to simply "cut and match" a couple of these snakes to make one long snake. Wrapped the joint with duct tape and painted the sucker to look like a banded King snake. Looks awesome so I'm going to do that to a couple more tomorrow and will probably make the new, bigger snake a scarlet King.

I placed these in my lychee (a tropical fruit) tree where the squirrels were raiding my crop. I had to zip tie some of them on to hold them in place. I left one branch "un-snaked", and it was wiped clean in 24 hours. The remaining branches, where squirrels would have to climb over a rubber snake to reach the fruit, were untouched. Perfect! Plus they came in handy at Halloween.

Used under the eaves and roof of a patio pavilion, they keep the birds from landing, befouling and/or nesting in the nooks and crannies. I put one snake per rafter space slightly hanging out over the edge. Of course, your visitors may think you're part of some cult, but if it keeps them away, so much the better! <grin>

The snakes have been doing good duty for about three seasons, no nests, no feathers, no bird poop. Don't get me wrong, I like birds, we have several feeders less than 6 feet from pavilion, but the birds stay around them and avoid the undersides of our space!

Work well to keep the birds away from my garden and gazebo. The black/green body combined with the snow white exposed teeth and red toungue give these little guys an especially mean look. Keeping the birds away has the added benefit of helping to keep cats away.

The birds dined happily on my grass seed and in total disregard of theses toy snakes. In the veggie garden various owl decoys have worked best.

They look great and do the job of keeping people as well as predators out of places they should not be ... especially kids and birds..
