Book Description

January 1, 1974
Paul and Claire Craddock have grown older in years - but not in spirit. World War II is over. But for Craddock and his family there are new battles to be fought and won. The new property laws enable speculators to reap huge profits from agricultural lands, and Paul's livelihood is threatened. With the help of his children and children's children, Paul struggles to preserve the happiness and peace he has built up over the years. In doing so, he comes to discover deeper, richer ties with those around him. Ties which hold a ripe promise for the future...

This review is from: The Green Gauntlet (Paperback)
This book arrived in great condition and arrived very promptly. This is the third and final instalment in the "Horseman Riding By" series. This completes the fictional story of the life of the main character, Paul Craddock, who purchased an estate in southern England upon his return from the Boer War. The three books cover the period between then and the 1950's and along with the story of Paul Craddock and his family's and tenants lives, are a very interesting commentary of the changes that England saw in terms of lifestyle and progress before, during and after the two World Wars. An excellent read.
