Earth friendly, but not compostable,

This review is from: Green Genius Biodegradable Tall Kitchen Bags, Drawstring - 13 Gallon 22 Count (Kitchen)
I was looking for a compostable tall kitchen garbage bag and ordered these. They do appear to be very strong and are biodegradable. When I was changing our kitchen compost bag, I realized that these do not meet the ASTM 6400 standard and cannot be used in our municipal compost program. They are not quite what I was looking for, but are a step closer than normal tall kitchen garbage bags to being earth friendly.

Garbage bags everyone should use,

An environmentally friendly garbage bag that everyone should use. They are the standard 13 gallon size and tough as nails-they survive the journey down the trash chute from my 4th floor condo. Don't let the price deter you from using them. Consider the money spent as a donation toward the health of the planet. An extremely worthy purchase.

The claim that these bags will biodegrade in an "active" landfill is doublespeak. See the article "Breaking Down Is Hard To Do: How biodegradable are biodegradable plastics?" By Nina Shen Rastogi Posted in Slate for Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at 11:31 AM ET.
