Product Description

DID YOU KNOW THAT NORMAL PLASTIC BAGS NEVER BIODEGRADE? Well, not for a thousand years or so, which in our book pretty much qualifies for "never". But have no fear: Green Genius trash bags have been proven to biodegrade under active landfill conditions, typically within 1 to 10 years (ASTM D5511). On top of that, our bags have everything the other guys have: They're just as puncture resistant as the national brands (3-ply strength, woohoo!) with ridiculously strong drawstrings. They're priced the same, too. PLUS, they're made from 40% recycled plastic. About the only thing the other bags have that we don't is the ability to sit around intact for the next thousand years or so. SAME STRENGTH. SAME PRICE. BIODEGRADABLE.TM

They are reliable and sturdy.

The fact that the bag is at least more eco friendly than traditional products is a huge plus for me, but I do wish that I knew exactly what they mean by biodgradable.

It seems to be made of a thicker plastic than the bags and I wonder if it will break down in a landfill like the bag is supposed to.

I bought these bags because they qualified for free Super Saver Shipping with the expectation that the bags would be cheap and not hold up. To my surprise they are fantastic. I dropped my keys in the bag as I was taking it outside and after shaking the bag 4 or 5 times strenuously with broken Alfredo jars the bag did not rip. I had to break the bag open (so gross) to find my keys and the bag didn't break with ease. This is my first time buying these bags. I am definitely sold and will continue to buy them. I didn't give it five stars because they are trash bags and I don't see myself "loving" a trash bag. I am glad they are biodegradable, I just wish the diapers I put in them were also biodegradable :-).

I've tried a couple of the other biodegradable bags, and these are the best that have come to market so far, especially for the price point. Others have been way to flimsy, too expensive.

These bags are basically what you would want from a regular plastic bag...strong and useful. And they are good for the environment and decently priced. Highly recommended.

I don't like putting stuff in landfill, and I hate using normal trash bags, which make me think that I am encasing my trash in a plastic tomb that will be found in 10,000 years by archaeologists. So I was glad to found a bag that used recycled plastic and would decompose after a reasonable amount of time.

I was skeptical about the quality of these bags (especially at this "normal bag" price) because my experience with environmental friendly bags has been dismal. (The bags I use for compost are ridiculously weak, so the Green Genius claim of being "ridiculously strong" seemed, uh, ridiculous.)

But these are great! They hold up really well and I do not feel like I am sacrificing quality (or price) for making the right environmental choice. I am now handing out samples to some friends so they can try it as well.

I will buy it again.

Now, if these guys can figure out products for my other plastic bag needs (ziplocs for food, etc), I'd be really happy.

Before ordering these I was using the Go Green biodegradable trash bags which leaked even when I doubled them up (a hole would form in the bottom leaving a mess). When I went to reorder the Go Green bags I realized that the price had gone way up. I decided to give these a try, expecting them to leak like the Go Green bags. I was surprised that I only needed to use one bag and even after filling up the bag with wet vegetable peels it still held up. The price is also affordable. My husband and I recycle more materials than we throw away to I know a box will last us a long time. The only thing that is questionable about this product is the drawstring. It seems to be made of a thicker plastic than the bags and I wonder if it will break down in a landfill like the bag is supposed to. I wish biodegradable products were more widely used. It's sad to see all of those thick plastic trash bags in the dumpster that will take forever to break down! It's worth spending a little extra money for these bags.

At least that's the theory. Bye bye bag. Hello little bugs and organisms that will break down everything IN the bag. Most of what we throw away is corn cat litter, which is disgusting and gross, but will eventually make an excellent fertilizer. Our kitties just generate so much that we can't compost it all, so it's nice to know that all that bio-goodness will actually get a chance to do some good.

This isn't the perfect green product. It's strong and it has a drawstring, which is great. It goes away after a few years and lets the contents biodegrade. Sweet! But it's still made of plastic, (40% recycled) so I suspect there are chemicals that will also get into the ground. This is certainly better than a plastic bag that will hang around forever, but it's not perfect yet. (I already know about the cornstarch bags - they tear too easily for my purposes.)

So this is a wonderful product and the price is actually pretty good. Highly recommended.

I'm no expert on bio-degradeability, but I've tried 5 or 6 different kinds of recycled trash bags and these are by far the best. strong, convenient with the ties, etc. The best I have tried.

I am very satisfied with these biodegradable bags. As a culture, we have turned into plastic junkies and for far too long neglected the heavy consequences of the accumilating abundance, which does not break down in the environment. These offer a new alternative and potential solution.

The package arrived early and i am very satisfied with the vendor.

Thank you
