Featured New Release in Diets & Weight Loss

Book Description

Another #1 Best Seller from the author of #1 Best Selling '50 Low Carb Brown Bag Lunch Recipes' and #1 Best Selling 'The Perfect Cup of Tea Book''

A lot of people think that simply reducing the amount of food they eat will solve their weight loss problems. A person who doesn't eat at all will definitely lose weight.

But crash dieting is dangerous and ineffective.

You shed a lot of pounds, yes, but you also go through a lot of stress, both physical and mental in the process. The hunger, weakness and general feeling of lousiness can weaken the resolve of even the most ardent dieter.

And then there's the problem of keeping any lost weight off for good.

A lot of dieters simply go back to their old diet once they shed off a few pounds, especially if they have a target weight in mind. All it takes is a buffet dinner party or the smell of a cheeseburger to slowly slide back into the food that was comfortable.

This does not mean, however, that you should not avoid dieting altogether.

Healthy dieting is less about depriving yourself of food and more about eating the right kind of food - food that is healthy, filling and delicious all at the same time.

Now the problem lies in the quality of the food you eat.

A lot of the fruits, vegetables and animal products are chock-full of chemical additives and have been genetically modified. These additives and modifications make these products bigger and look better than they should be, which means more profit for the people that grow and sell them to you.

And let's face it - these kinds of food taste like paper anyway. You will know what I mean when you compare the flavor of organic beef with regular commercial beef.

You can almost taste the earthy, meaty flavor in each bite of organic beef, while plain old beef needs a lot of sauce and seasoning to produce any flavor at all.

This is where organic dieting comes in.

Here's the question: do you want to eat food that contains poisons and could give you cancer, or do you want to eat food that's healthy, safe and delicious all at the same time?

Organic foods are not new. They are the original way crops and livestock were raised, back before chemicals and additives produced bigger (and more profitable) goods.

This makes them the perfect food for the health-conscious dieter, and this is exactly what we'll be talking about in this book.

Bonus! In this revised edition you get an incredible 150+ meal ideas - beef, pork, poultry & vegetarian.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Last Diet You'll Ever Need to Follow....... February 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book provides information that is a wake-up call for anyone who has ever been taken in by the so-called Diet Gurus - and let's face it, there's a whole lot of us who fall into that category. Rather than just a diet book which tells you to 'eat this, not that', the author explains in detail about why you should make certain food choices and how they are beneficial to long-term health as well as trimming your waistline. The information is presented in a friendly conversational way which makes for easy and enjoyable reading.

Through this book you'll discover how misleading some of the food manufacturers' labelling can be; for instance, if a food is labelled as 'Lite' it doesn't automatically mean it is low in calories...

Do your health and wallet a favour: get back to basics by following the guidelines and delicious recipes in this book and kick the Diet Industry to the curb!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Explanation of the Organic Way of Eating April 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This ia an interesting book about the benefits of an organic diet. The author does a great job of explaining how traditional diets fail. She also provides a section on how to read an ingredients' label and what the food industry is allowed to report. There's also a very good discussion of myths vs facts about eating organic foods. One myth is that eating organic foods is more expensive than other diets for weight-loss. The author presents a persuasive argument that organic foods are not as expensive as some might think when compared to other diet programs. Two topics that hit close to home were the problems with drinking diet sodas and consuming too much sugar. It made me consider drinking more water as a realistic alternative. Finally there's a large section in the book about suggested organic meals. If you're investigating changing your diet to an organic diet this would be a really good resource. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Complete Look at Organic Food February 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The author has written a book that provides a very complete look the controversial issue of organic food. Contrary to the message put forth by the popular media and conventional farming, she makes a very complete and compelling argument that organic makes a huge difference to the consumer and is very much worth any differential in cost, although as the author points out, in many cases organic can be less expensive. At the time of this review the book is selling for a remarkable 99 cents. This is an amazing value and I encourage you to "Buy This Book"!!!

More About the Author

The Green Gourmet is Lori Jane Stewart - an American author known for her books on food, wine, diet and nutrition. She is the writer of many international bestselling books including 'The Green Gourmet Organic Diet Book' and '50 Low Carb Brown Bag Lunch Recipes.'

Lori has a passion for good food and fine wine. She loves cooking and creating recipes using easily available fresh and healthy ingredients, and especially with with local organic fresh produce.
She lives in San Francisco along with her husband and two daughters.

Early Life and Interests:

Lori was born in Carmel-by-the-sea California in 1977. Her mother was a chef at a local seafood restaurant, and inspired by the rich cultural diversity of Carmel and her mother's experimentation with food, Lori developed an interest in cooking at an early age.

At the age of fifteen, Lori met Sarah at school. Sarah's father was the owner of a renowned wine bar, and would ferry the girl to ad from school, when he would regale them with tales of fine wine, vineyards and often tales of the local vintners too! After graduating, Sarah's father offered Lori a job at his wine bar. This was where Lori learned about different types of wines and their distinguishing taste and properties. By this time, Lori had become an excellent cook. Her job at the bar gave her an opportunity to experiment with the use of wine in her food.

Personal Life:

In 1999, Lori met Ryan, a video game programmer and wine enthusiast. They married in 2002 and moved to his hometown of San Francisco, where now live with two beautiful daughters, Sandy and Emily. Both girls have inherited the passion for food and cooking and they love to spend their weekends in the kitchen, watching and learning from their mother. Sandy, now eight, according to Ryan, is already a master baker and makes delicious cupcakes - under her mother's watchful eyes!

Ryan and Lori are both lovers of natural and organic food, and enjoy travelling to different regions to try the local specialities. On one such trip to Michigan, they helped an animal rescue organization save an abandoned greyhound found stuck in an icy lake, who they later adopted. Since then, Charlie has become a beloved member of their family who loves nothing better than their regular trips to the beach at Carmel.

Writing Career and Popular Work:

Since her days in the wine bar, Lori had a habit of writing down her recipes in her diary, and she had amassed a huge collection of unique, healthy and delicious recipes. On discovering Lori's secret recipe book, Sarah and Ryan encouraged Lori to get her work published. With great help and encouragement coming from Ryan and family, she acquired the technical knowledge and confidence to publish her own books.

Lori's first book 'The Green Gourmet Organic Diet Book' was an international bestseller in the health and nutrition category. The book got a full five star rating and excellent consumer reviews on Amazon. After the success of her first book, Lori continues to publish Green Gourmet food guides and recipe books, all of which can be found on this site.
The distinguishing factor of Lori's work is the mass appeal of her books. Her books and recipes cater to vegetarians, meat lovers, weight-watchers and epicures alike. Through her books, Lori strives to share her love of good food and wine with everyone.

Sandy and Emily, like their father, are extremely encouraging and cooperative as well. Looking at their passion and talent, Lori has no doubt about passing down the torch to them.
