4.0 out of 5 stars Great collection
Beautifully illustrated, diverse array of modern eco-homes around the world. It's a little redundant with Stang and Hawthorne's recent "The Green House: New Directions in Sustainable Architecture," which contains many of the same projects, including the Walla Womba Guest House, featured on the covers of both books (!). However, these projects deserve widespread attention...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly what I was looking for
I have to agree with the other reviews, the binding and print quality of this book is second to none. However, I was looking for a book where I could get ideas for a home that I will be building. This review is from: Green Homes: New Ideas for Sustainable Living (Hardcover)
However, these projects deserve widespread attention. Lance Hosey's introduction, "The Ecology of Home," is one of the best summaries of eco-architecture in recent memory.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly what I was looking for, April 19, 2011
This review is from: Green Homes: New Ideas for Sustainable Living (Hardcover)
I have to agree with the other reviews, the binding and print quality of this book is second to none. However, I was looking for a book where I could get ideas for a home that I will be building. The vast majority of the homes are very, very modern. Dont get me wrong I love modern designs but these were way too modern for my taste. Most of these homes arent located in the U.S. so you dont see a lot of these designs here in the States. In my opinion, this would be a very good coffee table book but if you are looking for home design ideas I would probably look elsewhere.
