After 12 years, this story still inpires me, August 23, 1998
This review is from: Green King-The (Hardcover)
I read The Green King over a decade ago. It has been, and still is, one of the biggest influences of my life, supplying me with perseverance, humility and strength. I can't believe how one story has been able to continually provide me with lessons about who we are, accepting what we have, and taking action in a way that is a win-win for everyone involved. It has taught me that everything we do has an impact, eventually, on everyone else in the world, so we should choose how we do things with care.
This book is about a man who is stripped of his identity and possessions, and reborn. He then manages to be the richest man on earth, through a very unconventional path. He can create from nothing, illustrating the point that it is not what we know or have, but how we take action that determines our power. He also know the power of contribution - that the only way to truly be successful is through creating a platform for others to win. Finally, he embodies integrity - the glue that binds all that he has relationhips with to be fiercely loyal to him.
I believe that I am in the process of changing the world. I am the head of a successful company now and have not sold myself out to get it there. This lessons from this book was a guiding spirit of how I shaped my relationships to get this company to where it is today. I am fortunate to have this book cross my path. I will feel more fortunate if if crosses my path again, because I have since lost it! (It's in one of my college boxes in my parent's storage room - I know it- but I still haven't found it when I go home to look for it)

The Green King - Paul Loup Sulitzer, May 4, 2003
This review is from: Green King-The (Hardcover)
The Green King is my all-time favorite book. I read it for the first time when on vacation in Aruba in '85 and have read it at least three times since. I found a first print in hardcover and it is the jewel of my book collection.
Reb Michael Klimrod's journey from a nazi death camp to the richest man in the world without anyone knowing him is remarkable. The detail that Sulitzer maintains in his book of the men that kept this secret is breath taking; the web of financial companies and transactions is exhilarating. This is a great book for anyone that enjoys high finance and a desire to fulfill a dream. 5 Stars are not enough for this book.

Read this book and find your place in this world....., February 25, 2002
This review is from: Green King-The (Hardcover)
.......especially if you are just starting out (your life that is) and things arent looking too good. I read this book about 14 years ago when I was 17 living in Kashmir and not in a very positive frame of mind. It was an amazingly inspirational experience reading this book. I still remember reading it very fast even though it was very big but towards the end I slowed down to savour this almost other life I was immersed in. It is an amazing epic that definitely has had an influence on my life, although I don't know what all to attribute to the book but certainly an impossible amount of positivity - that has even weathered and survived the market conditions during the current dotcom demise ;^) - comes to mind.
The Green King to this day remains my favorite book of all time, although Frank Herbert's Dune series comes in a close second. After chancing upon the book here on amazon and refreshing my memory of it I definitely want to get hold of a copy and read it again.
