Every superhero has a story written where they finally come into their own. We're all able to pinpoint, with some degree of accuracy, the stories which defined Superman, Batman, and the like. This is Kyle's. Despite it being often overlooked, it may be one of the finest Green Lantern stories ever written.

One of the problems I've had with every Green Lantern is how easily they are able to solve all their problems. All that it takes is "willpower." A GL can think their problems out of existence if they try hard enough. This story presents a problem which no story ever tried to tackle before. What if the enemy the Green Lantern has to face down is himself? What do you do when you are your own worst enemy, and there's nobody you can turn to for help?

This story was not critically acclaimed nor very popular when it came out. It's a shame, because this story was just so different than what was out there at the time, and deserves a second look. Superhero stories are very formulaic these days, where you have Geoff Johns having heroes beat up heroes, and the occasonal villian. There is an unfortunate lack of thinking outside of the box which this story attempts. It's for that reason I give this product 5 stars. If you have the chance, read through it and make up your own mind.

Basic storyline: An all powerful being calling himself Oblivion comes into the galaxy and has the ability to cause cosmic events (black holes, ect). When the JL is powerless to stop him GL goes back to Earth to get more help, but the JL's still in space vanish. With Kyle as the only hero left, he wishes for help and out of nowhere 6 Green Lanters fom other dimensions, and timelines come to help out. Discovering that Oblivion was an old comic character Kyle drew as a kid, one grean Lantern and one other Earth hero search the universe for a weapon called the Omega Option. When the GL's find Oblivion on the reamains of Oa, it is revealed to Kyle that Oblivion is a part of Kyles sub - consious, and was created by the ring. Unknown to him, the power ring took much of Kyle's self doubt, hate and pain and used it to created Oblivion, a free thinking lifeform. Kyle also discovers that the other Green Lanters are also of his creation. In his wishign for powerful help back on Earth, the ring took parts of his characteristics and created other Lanterns. When realizing this he obsorbs botht he Lanterns and Oblivion, back inside of him. Kyle learns how to deal with having his immense power and learse to better contol his feelings

This is a great comic to show how powerful the Lantern ring can be and how much control someone needs to wield the power to create something great or destroy it all.
