Product Description

The Manhunters are an android race, originally created by the Guardians of the Universe to serve as the first interstellar police force. The Manhunters became more obsessed with administering punishment than serving justice, forcing the Guardians to dissolve their ranks. The few Manhunters that survived fled into exile and the Guardians founded a new elite police force called the Green Lantern Corps and armed its memebers with specially crafted power rings. Now the Manhunters are back and out for revenge, readying their forces for a war against the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps. Faced with destruction, the Corps is looking to you as the newest recruit, gifted but cocky test pilot Hal Jordon, to protect peace and preserve justice. Building on the anticipation of Warner Bros.' feature film Green Lantern, in theaters June 17, 2011, Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters includes the likeness and voice talent of Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, who is the star of the upcoming motion picture.

They were supposed to uphold peace and deliver justice. They were supposed to protect their creators, the Guardians of the Universe, by acting as the first interstellar police force. Instead, the Manhunters focused on doling out punishment and the Guardians had to disband the android unit. Since the exile of the Manhunters, the Guardians have assembled a new police force, the Green Lantern Corps, and equipped each officer with a specially crafted power ring. Faced with the threat of war from the Manhunters, it'll be up to you and the other Green Lanterns to defend the universe, protect peace and preserve justice in the biggest fight of your life.

The Wii does not allow for more than one player. I was deceived! Thanks for writing in additional feature that are not available.

If you are looking for an action packed mentally involved game, this is NOT it.
This game was fun for what it was. The Wii version is a simple play left to right kind of game. It's not super difficult and we had the entire thing beaten within a few hours. We were disappointed in it's simplicity, but we took it for what it was worth and enjoyed the game play.

Disregard that other review. One of the gripes was about having text instead of audio? Really? Is that a reason to dock a game any points? Not at all. The Green Lantern game for Wii follows the DS and 3DS versions in that, unlike the HD versions trying to emulate the movie's feel, this one goes a more animated route ala Batman Brave and the Bold. It is rendered in 3D but plays on a 2D plane like a classic side-scroller. The controls are responsive and versatile; one minute you can be bashing enemies with the oversized fists generated from the Lantern ring and the next you're using the Wii's IR funstionality to point and shoot 360 degrees similar to a twin-stick shooter. The audio (music) isnt a strong point, but it works. Graphically, I liked the cartoony style and bright colors, and the game isnt too difficult, but not necessarily a cake-walk. It's just right. It even has rpg-like elements in that you earn experience you can use to power up your abilities. As you progress you learn new techniques and become stronger. I generally don't like movie-licensed titles but I felt this one was released to coincide with the movie just to garner attention. It could've been released on it's own and still have been a great superhero title.

I was a little worried when I purchased this based on reading some of the reviews from others, but we have enjoyed this game. Here are the basics.

Audience: I bought this for my 9 1/2-year-old son. He's into video games, but is not crazy about them. He plays them once every three to four days and then only for about an hour or so. He also loves superheroes and did his own research on this and wanted it. I also play it from time to time. However, neither of us are hardcore gamers. We'll play for a little while and then come back several days later, so it's very nice that the games have three profiles that can be saved.

Platform: We bought it for the Wii and have had absolutely no problems. It loads fine, works well and the controls respond appropriately.

Difficulty: Once you get the hang of it (when to recharge your health, how to scan for items, the best way to make certain constructs), it's easy enough to maneuver your way through the game. For the two of us who are not experienced gamers, the game continues to provide entertainment and has enough new items that it keeps us interested. In other words, this is fun for the inexperienced green lantern fan.

Entertainment value: Good. As others have mentioned, this is a two-dimensional game, with the only directions being left or right or up and down. There is no depth to the game screen, so the graphics are fairly simple. It's fun to watch the constructs being made.

Price: Is fine -- for less than $20, we've already gotten several hours of entertainment out of it, and my son has enjoyed "teaching" me how to play the game, while his little brothers have been cheering us on.

Violence: is cartoon type violence. Robots and machines get blown up. No blood spurting anywhere.

This game is awesome. it is alot of fun. the only difrence between the wii version and the xbox 360 and playstation 3 is that the wii and other nintendo versions of the game is that it is in the style of a comic book. and yes the animated green lantern in the game is a resmblance of ryan reynolds. so at least you are playing his green lantern. the xbox 360 and ps3 version is more based on the movie characters. but you know all in all this game is fun. if you have not played this game then i recommend you do.

As a huge Green Lantern fan, I was really disappointed by this game. It is a game without spirit, a game without the ability to overcome great fear.

My son likes the game but was disappointed that it was only a one player game. Chalk one up to not reading all the fine print.
