Good book, not great, August 31, 2005
This review is from: Green Lantern: Sleepers (Book 1) (Mass Market Paperback)
The book got some things right and some things wrong. This is my first attempt at a comic based novel and it wasn't bad reading.
I think for the most part Priest got Kyle right. A little head strong, good heart, and a hopeless romantic. The characterization of Alan was terrible: He plays him off as an old fart instead of someone who has seen alot and was the model for all superheroes.
The Jade character seems to be directly lifted out of the last arc of Green Lantern (Volume 3) - Homecoming. It isn't flattering.
Overall it was a fun read.
I have the second book about Alan and I am hoping he does a better job with him (my favorite thing about Alan was his relationship with Kyle and that was totally ruined in book 1)
ADD: I read that Priest did NOT write all three books in the series, only the last one with Hal Jordan. Books 1 and 2 were done by hired Ghost Writers. This really pissed me off.
