About the Author

Freda Day, teaches as an Adjunct Professor for a local college in Charlotte, NC. She received her MBA degree from Webster University. She currently is pursuing her writing career and working to expand the lives of her three children. She was born and reared in Columbia, South Carolina, where she studied Journalism at the University of South Carolina. Prior to receiving her Master’s degree, she started her own business in which she designed a device called a "Pink Banana." It is used to protect the ears from heat while sitting under a hair dryer.

I have known Freda Day for many years however was very intrigued with this memoir.We had not seen each other in almost twenty years and was just recently reunited a few months ago. I actually sang in her wedding to Ed Davidson and is God mother to one of her children. I have not yet finished the book but I am really gaining insight into what a lot of educated African American women suffer at the hands of family and generations of hidden and undiscussed family dysfunction. The black culture is taught to sometimes not be as up front and personal about our struggles and I commend Ms. Day for coming out with such a catharis. I will give my final review after I have completed this work. I am encouraging friends to read this book and I will be hosting a book discussion in the very near future. Denise Cooper
