I wish it had worked as advertised.

The ants that were visible even over a day or so didn't take the bait and it didn't kill them.

The ants scarf it up and then they are, for the most part, dead. I fixed a three-foot diameter mound that I had let get away from me with this stuff. At the moment, I have the yard (9/10 acre) pretty much fire ant free. (Although accomplishing that wasn't cheap....!)

Whatever they put in it to attract the ants is good stuff - you can see them come out and start carrying it away as soon as you put it down. I have purchased another brand with Conserve (Safer) that the ants do *not* like - they walk right over it and leave it alone. So I'm ordering some more of the Green Light!

Edited to add that it gets cheaper as you go along, if you use it regularly. When I first started, my 9/10 acre took six to eight bags. (I treated mounds, the house and storage building perimeters, and the fence perimeter.) After having used it for several years, the ants are virtually gone. I just treated the house and storage building perimeters and the very few remaining mounds with just two bags.

Edited to add that I suggest you do a Google search for this product in addition to Amazon - the price has gone way up here, and I found a serious deal on 12 bags (like less than 1/2 the price here per bag) by using Google.

I searched for a product that would help control fire ants in our yard and garden in East Texas- to protect the birds and other insects, and the items we bring into the kitchen - one that was listed for organic production. This product works as promised. I recommend it. I have used the active ingredient, Spinosad, in other formulations, to protect my apple trees from rhagoletis pomelo.

We have two types of fire ants in our yard. The most common is a small ant that makes large dirt piles that spread father and farther the longer you let them go. These were all eliminated in a few applications of this product.

We do, however, have a less common fire ant. The ants are a bit larger and harder to find. They often show up if I turn over rocks or mulch, then I find a nest I never would have noticed otherwise. This variety of fireant seems largely unaffected by this product.

So basically, Green Light worked great for 90% of our fire ant problem, but for the others, I need to find another solution.

We used to use TomCat Fire Ant bait, but that has since been taken off the market. It is very difficult to find bait that is safe to use around gardens and fruit trees. This product claims to be both, but I have not seen much of a change in the mounds in the areas we have put it. With the TomCat bait, the ants would come to the surface almost immediately and start taking the bait. This bait, they kind of sniff and then leave alone. Not worth the $$ in my opinion.

Just a few sprinkles on the fire ant bed & it's dead within 24 hrs. Hard to find this stuff locally so had to order off amazon at twice the price...not happy about that but at least it does the trick to get rid of fire ants.

I used this product several years and got excellent results, but was a total failure this time. Has there been a change to the product or was it just a bad batch?

It's a great product, but I have two complaints. One -- my dogs are attracted to it and I had to watch them very closely so they wouldn't eat it, and Two -- very expensive for such a small amount. The instructions say to cover a 4' area around the mound. If you have a lot of mounds, like I did, one bag doesn't go very far. i've decided to use a drench product for my lawn (dogs not attracted to it) and Green Light for my flower and vegetable gardens, which require an organic product and which are protected by fences to keep the dogs out.
