Not all Neem is created equal...,

This review is from: Green Light Neem II - 24 oz Spray #07824 (Lawn & Patio)
I'm writing this review to save potential buyers the frustration that will likely appear after this product fails at its intended purpose. As most of you reading the reviews of this product, I am in the middle of an epic battle to save my plants (especially my prized moonflower vines) from an infestation of aphids, whiteflies, and one other as-yet unidentified but equally detrimental pest without using synthetic chemicals that could be harmful to humans, pets, or the environment as a whole. On numerous gardening forums I have read about neem oil and its insecticidal and fungicidal properties and overall seemed like a great fit for my purposes. Hence my trip to amazon and the eventual purchase of this product. To be honest, I feel like the product description is highly misleading and if I would have known what was actually contained in it I would not have purchased in the first place. The neem in this product is "clarified hydrophobic extract of neem oil". Upon a quick google search, I was disappointed to learn that this is the ingredient left over after the process of extracting the neem oil from the seeds using alcohol and the ingredient that makes neem oil effective, azadirachtin, is also removed during this process. Neem has many different compounds not including azadirachtin and whatever those are is what is inside this product. The successes that have been achieved by the other reviewers are likely to have been caused by the other active ingredient, pyrethrins, and not the neem byproduct. After further research, I have also found that any other process besides cold pressing breaks down the active ingredient in neem which also lessens its effectiveness. Luckily I was able to find 100% cold pressed neem oil here on amazon that I will use to make my own spray using 1-2% neem oil to water ratio and add a couple drops of Dr. Bronner's plain castille soap as the needed emulsifier (since water and oil do not mix without help). Good luck out there and keep fighting the good fight!

Works great,

This review is from: Green Light Neem II - 24 oz Spray #07824 (Lawn & Patio)
This worked great, the bugs died after one use. They came back a little a few days later but a second light application and we never say them again.
I would recommend following the instruction very well about washing the plants after application and not on a sunny day. The second time we used it I did not wash one plant off well enough and some of the leaves got burned from the sun... The other plants that I washed off well were fine, I just figured the instructions were over protective and did not go back and get more water to really wash of the one last plant. But the washing after application I found to be important, as only that one plant had leaves get burned from the sun.

Citrus Leaf Borers,

This review is from: Green Light Neem II - 24 oz Spray #07824 (Lawn & Patio)
This product worked on all the pests in my garden in Houston. I had a neem spray before that was the first thing to work on Citrus Leaf Borer/Miner infestations that threatened my lemon trees. This Green Light version was what I used to spray any resurgence and it also worked on the aphids attacking the roses. As a bonus, it repels mosquitos.

I got this product to treat a rosemary plant that had acquired a pretty extensive case of powdery mildew. Washing off the plant helped but the mildew returned in a matter of days. Since the plant is currently indoors, I used the Neem II spray on a mild day outside and sprayed the rosemary thoroughly. I let the spray dry for about 2 hours and gave the plant a second spraying, trying to hit the top and bottom of all the leaves. Now it is a week later an the mildew has been knocked back significantly. There are some small spots on some isolated leaves and as the Neem II directions suggest, I will give the plant a second treatment--that should completely eliminate the mildew. Great product.

Seems to work well as a indoor insecticide. Kills most insects within seconds. It even killed a yellow jacket within 30 seconds.

We got this for gnats, stink bugs and red mite thingys on our peppers and tomatoes. I followed directions and....it killed the plants! 4 pepper plants and 6 tomato plants are dead. Nothing but a brown stalk in the soil. Can't return it, so going to recycle it with other poisonous materials. Not organic in ANY way! I won't even go into the poor packaging that a good 1/3 of product leaked inside and through the box.

This product works great and quickly against fungus gnats, fungus in potting soil/mulch, white flies and aphids. Highly recommended. Treat soil without problems but wipe off leaves 15-30 minutes after spraying to avoid any leaf damage.

Helped a Lot!,

I used this on my tomatoes this year and it has helped a lot. For the folks who are wondering/worried about it being non-toxic but the instructions recommending wearing gloves, it's because when you're spraying you're likely to get a lot more on your skin (and it is designed to be absorbed not ingested) than you would get from a vegetable that you presumably washed. The sprayer mechanism tends to drip when you're spraying a lot, that would be my only criticism.

Label misleads on toxicity,

The front label on the bottle in large print says "For Use on Fruits, Nuts, Herbs, Spices, Roses, Flowers, and Shrubs". The package insert goes on to contradict the front label with regard to how safe it is to use on plant foods with the warning "Harmful if absorbed through skin...Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing...Remove and wash contaminated clothing before reuse." If it's that toxic, it shouldn't be used on "Fruits, Nuts, Herbs, [and] Spices."
