I've been using neem spray in my garden for three years. It's versatile enough that I use it on an apple and peach tree, as well as all my vegetables (tomatoes & peppers, squashes, legumes). The spray has kept all my plants disease free, and limits the bugs I get too. It doesn't seem to phase squash bugs or vine borers, but I have no problems with most common pests (cutworms, japanese beetles, aphids, etc).

Works wonderfully to control aphids, powdery mildew, mites, and many other common garden pests and diseases, if used as directed and as intended: for CONTROL, not ERADICATION. Also gentle on the environment - which includes you!

I have a problem with fungus gnats in my home and this product seems to do the job. It doesn't eradicate all the bugs, just keeps them under control. Be sure not to let this anywhere near your plumeria and hibiscus!! Also, it's best to spray at night so the sun doesn't burn the foilage.

To those who say this product doesn't work, you must be doing something wrong. You probably don't know the recipe. Garden Rebel tonic is: 1 cup Murphy's Soap Oil, 1 cup Neem Oil, 1 cup vegetable oil, and 1 cup rubbing alcohol. Shake well and add to a 20-gallon hose- end sprayer. This will treat about 1500 square feet.Neem Oil Concentrate is ...a concentrate. That means it needs to mixed with something. Duh! Good luck.

I am someone who goes to great lengths to maintain a healthy home environment, so I only like to use natural household products. A year and a half ago I brought some outside plants into my home and ended up with a gnat problem that quickly spread to all of my house plants throughout my home. I tried numerous natural remedies to reduce this problem. I used this neem product and found that it did help to maintain the issue quite well and may have even reduced it a little. It also gives the leaves of my plants a nice shine which is an added benefit. But in the end, this was not the product that completely solved the problem. The product recommended by the greenhouse where I buy my plants is Granules Systemic Houseplant Insect Control which is also sold on Amazon.com. This product within two weeks completely resolved the issue. The active ingredient is natural, but it does seem to have a slight smell. I don't know what it is, but when I contacted the manufacturer they said that they didn't have any reports of a smell. I much more prefer the smell of Neem, but if you have a problem that is severe, then you may want to get the Granules Systemic Houseplant Insect Control instead. I still plan to use the Neem for weekly maintenance, but will keep the other product around for occasional use and in the event of severe problems.

Killed Spider Mites,
This review is from: Green Light Organic Neem Concentrate - Pint 17016 (Lawn & Patio)
I spray Green Light Neem on all my fruit trees (Apple, Peach, and Pear). My pear tree has been under heavy attack from spider mites for years. I declared war on the buggers and started spraying my pear tree twice a week with this stuff and I'm happy to say they are slowly but surely dying off. I recommend Green Light Neem.

Saved my roses,
This review is from: Green Light Organic Neem Concentrate - Pint 17016 (Lawn & Patio)
Like the title says, this stuff saved my roses from dying grisly deaths at the hands of bugs and fungus. After an incredibly damp spring, four of my poor rose bushes came down with black spot, and on top of that, two of those same roses became infested with whitefly. After trimming off the worst of the fungus, I picked this up at my local nursery, promptly sprayed my roses with the mix, and repeated once every two days for about a week. The spot cleared up, and the whiteflies, eggs and all, disappeared completely. Now, this isn't a cure-all. I still check for whitefly to be safe, and the blackspot very occasionally hints at popping up again, but that's how plants are - a lesson in disease prevention, not eradication. However, with two little nieces that like to pick the roses and stick their faces up into the blooms to smell, I feel much better knowing that they aren't inhaling toxic fumes along with the lovely scent of the flowers. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with children or pets that like to nose around the garden. Oh, and one warning that I didn't see on the bottle - neem oil is well-known as a natural labor-inducer/abortificant. I mean, obviously you'd have to actually ingest the stuff to get that effect, and quite a bit at that, but pregnant ladies may want to wear gloves or a bandana around their face, just in case. And obviously, wash your veggies quite well before eating, but that goes without saying.

I learned about neem from 2 different highly respected books on organic gardening. I have used it at least every 2 weeks and after rains all fall and have had excellent results. I spray the ground around the plants as well as the plants themselves. I also use an organic slug bait along with the neem. I see from a review in the New York Times that a new book on growing fruit organically recommends neem for borer control. I find the smell of neem distinctive but not offensive.sources 1 Rodale's ultimate encyclopedia of Organic Gardening 2 the Vegetable Gardener's Bible 3 The holistic orchard: tree fruits and berries the biological way

Controls Bugs does not Kill, Damaged some plants.,
By
This review is from: Green Light Organic Neem Concentrate - Pint 17016 (Lawn & Patio)
This product works well to control pest bugs. However do not expect it to kill the pest bugs. Bug populations droppend off to acceptable levels but never vanished. Aphids seem more resistant than others. Worked OK on some fungal issues.Product severely burned some plants (Better Boy tomatoes seemed very vulnerable) causing leaves and flowers to brown and die off. Heirloom, Roma, and Cherry tomatoes faired well however. variatie of hot and sweet pepper plants did well but it did not control some pest at all leaving me to use other chemicals. If you intend to use: Test on all plants, keep dosage at or below recommandeer levels, and apply in late afternoon as I have read reports that the chemical breaks down in sunlight and increases burning. I did extensive research on this product before buying, and did not hear about any of these issues till I specifically looked them up after observing them. Did not seem to bother or hinder bees, however it may have had a negatieve effect on lady bugs as I observed none on treated plants. Lastly, Product smells strongly of rotten fish. |
