... and you could do better. This is a solid country, country/rock cd and includes the song "Fool for Love", which was featured in "Reservoir Dogs" but not on that movie's soundtrack. Ms. Rogers wrote the song for the soundtrack to the movie "Fool for Love", which was written by and starred Ms. Roger's brother, Sam Shepard. The movie was directed by Robert Altman and co-starred Kim Basinger. But, you won't find the title song on that soundtrack album either.
However, the "Fool for Love", (Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack), lp is great, a 5***** recording which, 20 years later, I still listen to often. The songs are tremendous and sound like they were recorded by a female Michel Pagliaro fronting a girl-group Jay and the Americans, backed by the Beatles, ('Every Little Thing', 'And Your Bird Can Sing', 'What You're Doing'), produced by Jack Nitzche. That probably tells you nothing - and nothing could be that good - but there are classics here and you should buy the record, (which I've never seen on cd but ... ).
"Green River" was recorded a year later but may not have been released until 1997; I don't know. I learned of it only recently, got it immediately and was doomed to be disappointed as nothing was likely to measure up to twenty years of anticipation of a "Fool to Love" follow-up. The production is more straight forward than its predecessor's and the scratchiness of Ms. Roger's voice more pronounced - or more noticeable - and can be a bit irritating. If the technology permitted, I would give this 3 1/2 ***s. And who knows what I may think in six months given a little more time and distance.

SMASHING!!!! Isnt she a cutie?! Fool for love is obviously the best single for a party of any kind. Buy this baby now. Suits any age with appreciation for Sandy. Also take a look at Resivour dogs ... its a beauty!

I probably shouldn't review it, because I haven't heard it--and because Amazon.com isn't giving us any tracks, I have no way of hearing it until I buy it. I do have the soundtrack of Fool For Love, however, and it is remarkable--kick-ass--compelling. Amazing voice, amazing lyrics, and (looking at the record) Sandy Rogers wrote most of them. Surprisingly, the imdb.com Fool For Love info doesn't mention Sandy Rogers! Unbelievable--the soundtrack made the movie. (Well, Sam had a little bit to do with it, as well as actors Kim Basinger and Randy Quaid and Harry Dean Stanton.) Anyway, I'd buy this singer/composer unheard--she's that good.
