I have been a HUGE fan of green smoothies for years! Not only do they make me feel great, they give me energy and have done wonders for my skin and immune system. I was very pleased to see many green smoothie recipes I haven't tried in this book and, let me tell you, they are delicious! For anyone who hasn't tried green smoothies or has been too scared to drink something that is so "green", this book is for you! Great information, great recipes, great book!

I just bought a Blentec 2 months ago and started into Green Smoothies as a total newbie with the help of a friend and business colleague. I do have more energy and also - more "CLARITY" in the brain too!

Just bought this and love all the recipes, especially the "CHEERFUL CHERRY Green Smoothie" on page 297 - how can you go wrong combining banana + cocoa and more GOODIES!!

You'll love this book too if you want to get more energy and feel great!

I spent winter last year where I also had a green smoothy every day, and I agree with the author, I felt definitely better, always had energy and didn't get sick. Prior to that I seemed to get "the 'flu" every two months or so, and have only been sick once since my smoothie experiment, after my daily smoothie period ended. I came up with the theory that it was because I was eating pure nutrients straight from my garden, ie, the nutrients in the food I was eating had not been cooked out of the food. My only problem was that my smoothies got a bit 'same-y' after a while, probably because I always jammed the same old foods into my blender (I have a blendtech, rather than a vitamix, which I'm sure is equally as good) day in day out.

So, I feel that this book has really inspired me to give smoothies another go, with all the various combinations of foods in this book, rather than the same ones day in day out. They all look delicious and I know they will work well together. I can't wait to try them again.

These smoothie recipes are probably great for those who are beginner with them, because most of the recipes have lots of fruit. However, that is a lot of fruit sugar for the body to process, not to mention the impact on one's teeth.
I know I can easily cut down on the fruit in these, so I will probably use the recipes with adaptations. I noticed most of the recipes have banana, and some have 2 or 3 bananas, yikes, lots of fruit sugar... and some people don't tolerate banana very well.
All this being said, I think it's overall a good beginners book! I do recommend cutting down on the fruit over time as you get used to the "green" taste of smoothies.
Green smoothies are a great thing to drink, especially in the morning! :)

The book is very informative. In addition to the recipes for delicious and healthful drinks, Katherine Stromick has included the many benefits of mixing just the right amounts of veggies, nuts and fruits. The result is an amazing collection of drinks that provide the nutrients we need but don't take the time to prepare in regular salads. The book is a quick read, contains valuable information on the foods we should be eating and while I have not yet tried all of the recipes, the ones I tried were delicious. Good job, Katherine

There really is a smoothie for everyone in here. Want something to boost your energy after a workout? You got a great recipe for that. You want something to help you bounce back from a hangover? You got that. There are plenty of recipes for the kids too. My son loves a Kale and Banana smoothie. He can't even taste the kale. He loves the taste and doesn't even know he is eating healthy food. Double bonus!

My personal favorite is the Mango Banana Green Smoothie. I feel less lethargic now I get a regular blast of green, all thanks to this book. There is so much choice, and each recipe is laid out clearly with straightforward instructions. This is a great way to get a health kick, and a lot of fun too.
