John Masters has that rare ability to bring the characters in the book to life.An enthralling novel about the changes brought about in the period of the First World war and its horrors and the effect on everyones lives thereafter. I found it difficult to put the book down once I had started. Brilliant.If possible I would recommend you read the Trilogy in order.
