These are easy to hold but too large to fit in the mouth. Smooth with no corners or sharp edges. Best of all if you step on one they don't hurt your feet or break. Dishwasher safe and easy to sanitize. I expect these blocks to hold up to more then one kid and would be good for a day care or preschool. They seem to grow with your kids so they will hold interest from about 6 months to at least 4 years if not 6 for those who like to stack and build towers. While they don't snap together when stacked the bumps align and keep them together fairly well while still keeping them easy to handle for the one year old set. They will hold up to heavy chewers too, although some of the worst might make a dent or two.

Considering the safety issues and the quality these blocks are a great value too.

i am a big fan of green toys! if your child is over 1, buy two sets so there are a good number of blocks to build with. under 1 years old, one set will be suitable for the gnawing, throwing, clicking, banging, etc...that children will do.

these block DO attach together and you CAN build towers with them. the variety of different shaped blocks is good. and i ordered two sets and received two different color sets.

the colors aren't harsh like most baby toys, they aren't made in china, and they are a green product. i would much rather my child play with these than some chemical ridden, made in china set of blocks that will probably be recalled soon.

I bought these blocks for my 15 months old son. I choose these blocks over the other blocks available on the market because they are green and safe, which I feel is very important, especially in blocks who tend to be played a lot with.

So I really was excited when they arrived! The blocks have the perfect size and have nice colours, also there is enough variety in the shapes.

HOWEVER my big problem with them is that they don't stay together, if you put one block on top of the other they are not attached to each other in any way so they just fall off with the mildest push. So building anything is impossible.
Another problem is that you have to put the smaller blocks on top of the big blocks, the other way around doesn't work. So for example, you can't put 3 small blocks next to each other and than put a bigger block on top (it doesn't attach, you can't lift it).

So, these blocks work for small babies who like pushing things over and seeing things fall but if you are looking for blocks to build with, skip these (wish I had).

Like other reviewers have said, two sets will give you more blocks to play with...I'd personally love FOUR but I'm an adult and these are for my daughter. She loves them and my husband and I enjoy them too! ;) The fact that they don't 'link' together like duplos or other blocks makes them more age-appropriate. As an educator, I know that this age loves to build as much as they like to tear down and these blocks allow them to do just that.
Green toys makes highly durable, safe, quality, USA made, ecofriendly products and this is just another one we've added to our toy bin.

I bought this toy for Christmas for my son, at the time he was 10 months. He loved it! Its a great toy, its made here in the US and gave a parent who is concerned with toy safety a piece of mind! However if you are looking for it to snap tightly like Legos do, well...they don't. Still fun though!

I bought these blocks for my daughter shortly before her 1st birthday, but she was largely uninterested in them until she turned 18 months-old, when stacking and sorting became all-the-rage. The major selling point for me with these blocks was that they're eco-friendly and non-toxic. Most other baby/toddler blocks on the market contain toxic PVC (vinyl), BPA, phthalates and other "ickies," which the manufacturers try to justify by stating that their blocks aren't meant to be mouthed. (But that is a disingenuous claim since, at this age, everything goes in little-ones' mouths!) Fortunately, these Green Toys blocks are free of BPA, PVC, phthalates and other toxins, and are made of recycled milk jugs to boot, which cuts down on environmental waste.

These blocks would be perfect, except for the fact that they have sharp edges that can pose a safety hazard. Because these blocks are hollow, they have open edges at the base. Recently, my 19 month-old daughter was running while holding one of these blocks in her hand, and when she fell, her forehead scraped against a sharp, open edge of the block, and it gave her quite a deep, little gash in her forehead. Very scary for Mom & Dad, and painful for our little-one. In fact, the cut was close enough to my toddler's eye that we were extremely concerned about what might have happened if the sharp edge of the block had poked her in the eye when she fell.

So all in all, these are good blocks, as long as you make sure that your little-one is SITTING DOWN while playing with them. Might not be a good fit for active toddlers who like to run around with their blocks in hand!

I love love LOVE the Green Toy company. I love that they are made from recycled materials, that they are a safe material for kids and that they are made near my hometown (MADE IN USA, YAY!!!). We have several of their toys and love them all except for these blocks. I would really like to see more companies striving to meet Green Toy's ethics.

That being said... the blocks don't stay together very well when stacked. The walls of the blocks are thin and flex easily. The gripping bumps on the tops are short and I think that makes for a poorly functioning combination. They are on the larger side for building blocks, which is fine, but you don't get that many in a set which means you are limited in what you can build. If the blocks fit and stayed together better, I'd buy a few more packs to make up for the smaller portions. As it is, it is the least impressive of the ten or so GTs that we have. I would love to see the company redesign these blocks and work out the kinks because I think they could be a really great product.
