This is a really cute toy and my son enjoyed stacking the "cups". One of the problems I have is there is contamination particles in the plastic of the cups. The best way I can describe it, is it's little black particles in the plastic. Not a lot but enough on the top cup for me to examine the rest of the cups and they have it too. Also, there was black oil or some sort of residue on the bottom underneith most of the cups. I washed it and most of it came off but a little bit is still there and won't budge. I know there is a video showing a child chewing on one of the pieces, and one of the main focus of the company is that the plastic is safe and it's okay if a child teethes on the pieces, but I don't feel comfortable with my son doing the same and he is teething right now.
I think there should be better quality control. Update: I did call the manufacturer and they said I probably received a toy from a bad batch. The customer service rep told me the black particles in the plastic is called specking (?) which happens when the machine isn't cleaned out properly before production. So the particles get mixed into the melted plastic before it's molded into shape. This is actually "in" the plastic which is permanent, the oil residue is "on" the plastic which is washable. I just wanted to clarify. They sent me a replacement but unfortunately still had the same problem. Overall, I am happy with their customer service.

This is a great stacker. I love that there is no center pole. I bought a Melissa & Doug stacker and my (then) 11 mo old daughter immediately went for the center post...and I could see what was going to happen, and so now she has a set of wooden rings, with nothing to stack them on, since I confiscated the center post. Enter the Green Toys stacker, which has no center post and has a great design. For what it's worth, mine is not exactly like the picture. Our bottom "sombrero" is yellow, and our top is green. So the order of the colors may vary. (But ours does have the yellow/orange/blue/green color scheme like the picture.) The plastic is durable, and this toy is a good size. (Most wooden stackers I researched seemed to be very small.) You can't really go wrong with Green Toys. I love that it's made from recycled milk jugs and that it's safe (BPA, phalate, PVC free, etc.) It would've been nice to have a red or purple "ring", but all in all it's a fine toy.

I was really excited to get this for my 7 month old because it's educational and it's hard to find toys that aren't made in China, BPA free, and environmentally friendly. The only thing is he gets bored of it quickly and hasn't really grasped the stacking concept. Maybe he's just not ready yet?
