The only way I could describe Genmaicha (brown rice tea) is smoky. I think it's more like roasted rice tea, than toasted rice tea. The first time I tried this tea, I kind of gagged a bit. It tasted burnt, as apposed to the toasty, popcorn flavor I read it had, and I was not too fond of it...That being said, you should always try something twice before calling it quits. The second cup was great; gone were the burnt notes, and I could taste the almost savory, smoky flavor this tea has. Prior to the end of the box, I found the tea to be lacking in flavor. I recommend it for anyone starting to try out a grander variety of teas. |
