3.0 out of 5 stars great for a business
I wanted a book that applies more to office environment green techniques but this was more focused on green business than just an office. Great for businesses but just not detailed enough for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Change for the better, April 29, 2009

This review is from: Green Your Work: Boost Your Bottom Line While Reducing Your Carbon Footprint (Paperback)
This book was an interesting and very informative read. It was very easy to follow. Sometimes information on the green initiative is hard to understand. I really enjoyed reading about all of the easy things I can do as an individual. It was easy to understand how the author emphasized some of the easy things that can be done.

I liked how Kim talked about feeling good when doing things in a green way. Since reading Green Your Work, I have been so much more conscious of acting in a green manner. I am now enjoying feeling great about the changes I have made.

This review is from: Green Your Work: Boost Your Bottom Line While Reducing Your Carbon Footprint (Paperback)
Seems like "Green" is everywhere but Kim Carlson's perspective is brand new. With all the "competition" by compainies to be the "greenest" Kim's ideas are fresh and provacative. I think is is a must read for any business owner, manager and all the rest of us who want to do the "right thing" both at home and at work. Way to go Kim!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Easy Read on Green - Finally, April 14, 2009

I love this book because it provides practical, easy to follow, fun tips on how to make a business or organization more planet-friendly, sans the preaching. So often the green movement is not accessible and
seeks to scare people. I've already started doing a few things at work and have suggested the book to other colleagues. I like that it's geared toward making the people who work at a company feel good about their job setting and what they are doing to make a difference, regardless of the actual work of the company. Nothing intimidating about the message. Nice approach.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Convenient Truth: Going green is easier than we think..., January 29, 2009

This review is from: Green Your Work: Boost Your Bottom Line While Reducing Your Carbon Footprint (Paperback)
Kim Carlson writes in a very straightforward and practical way--giving clear steps to help businesses (and individuals) take better care of the environment and natural resources we so often take for granted. This book is a call to live responsibly and with integrity--a very serious commission--but somehow Kim makes it seem easy and fun! After reading this book and being personally inspired to make a difference where I can, I decided to give it to my employer and to friends who own businesses. I've been amazed at the sincere interest that has already led to positive action. Kim has the gift of inspiration but she backs this up with simple ways to implement her ideas in the real world. Going green truly is easier than we think and while it takes effort, if we work together we can make a difference and reap rewards both now and in the future.

I think that the author provides a very enlightening look at becoming eco friendly. She has done her due diligence in the facts that she has provided. I also like the personal information that she provided as it made me feel like we were having a personal conversation as I was reading. I am seeing 1st hand some of her examples being used at the office where I work. If I go into personal business, I would not hesitate to seek out her advice on becoming more eco friendly and at the same time saving money. Very well done and a pleasant read. I would recommend this book to everyone I know.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful and Inspiring, November 25, 2008
This review is from: Green Your Work: Boost Your Bottom Line While Reducing Your Carbon Footprint (Paperback)
Wow - this is the first book I've found that really explains
why and how to go green in easy-to-understand terms. I was impressed by the flow of the book, using humor and practical tips to give people the tools to green any company or office. This business woman seems to know her stuff, but doesn't blame or shame. I love the fact that she shares with the world what has and has not worked in her companies, and that her insights seem to equally apply to any large or small business, non-profit, law firm or even home office. It's also great that her hints can be used from the top manager to the newest intern. Any employee can sound brilliant with one or two of her suggestions to his/her supervisors. I'm using her chapter on outdoor space for my home as well. Anyway, great find.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great guide for greening your work, August 7, 2009
This review is from: Green Your Work: Boost Your Bottom Line While Reducing Your Carbon Footprint (Paperback)
This would be a great guide for anyone who wants to start a green initiative from within their own company or for business owners looking to begin their green journey. Carlson offers a great overview and lots of practical advise on how to make your company more environmentally friendly. She also offers compelling bottom-line business reasons and ethical reasons for why it is important. Kim's advice comes from many years of experience both greening her own property management company and being a leader within the environmental movement. Making a business green means addressing many different aspects of that business: the building and grounds, the operations, packaging and transportation. She addresses these concrete issues as well as the psychological aspects of going green. How do you motivate your people to go green? How do you get senior management on board? I highly recommend this practical, business-oriented book on how to green your business.
