We bought this to replace our ceramic countertop compost bin, which had cracked. While we don't expect that to happen with this product (which costs twice as much as the previous ceramic equivalent), we had also hoped it would match our copper kitchen sink fixture & copper countertop nicely. However, this product is likely manufactured from some cheaper metal rather than actual copper, and then simply sprayed with a copper finish. It looks like cheap junk. We'll keep it anyway, because the lost shipping costs would make returning it even more of a waste. But our advice to others is to avoid this product if you're expecting something made of real copper (or even convincing faux copper).

I love the copper color but I wish I hadn't bought it. It's rusting out really bad. I do like the removable inner bucket with a handle.

Used: 2-3 months

Pros: Attractive. Affordable. Novel. Photo and description don't show it but it has a plastic pail with a metal handle inside the can. That makes it very easy to remove and dump in the large compost bin in the yard.

Cons: Inside needs to be sprayed with a clear lacquer. After just a couple of weeks, I noticed rust spots starting to develop from the moisture that may collect inside from rinsing the plastic pail. The filter needs to have a screen guard as it can easily come into contact with food particles if the pail is not emptied before it reaches the top. That can cause mold and mildew on the filter and then it is defeating it's purpose. Pricey

Overall, I like it. It looks good with the other kitchen items on the counter and it is a novelty that helps to keep something some would prefer not to see from becoming an eyesore. I would have given it a higher rating but I feel it's over priced for what it actually is. It's about a 10-12 Dollar item. The only reason we decided to purchase this over any other is because we couldn't find anything at all at any local retailers and this qualified for free shipping which made it workable.

I like this pail a lot, it has a very classy look, but the top on the inside started to rust after about 6 months. Then again I should probably empty it more often so moisture doesn't touch the top.
