Kick! Stretch! and...KICK!,
By
This review is from: Greenfield KS2 Alloy Silver Bicycle Kickstand (Sports)
This kickstand does what every kickstand should. It holds my sweet bike up. It has never failed me yet, in fact, as I type, it is proudly doing it's best right now, hold up my bike in the garage. I'll wager that when you are reading this review in the future (right now that is) this kick stand is accurately performing its function. I recommend this little guy as a proud addition to any bike. It will not let you (or your bike!) down.

Solid, basic kickstand.,

I purchased this Greenfield kickstand at a local sporting goods store to replace the kickstand that came with my hybrid bicycle. This kickstand is, in a word, solid. The spring is very strong, and the kickstand length is a perfect match to my original stand. And it's made in the USA, which I found to be a nice bonus.
The only criticism I have for this Greenfield kickstand is that the diameter of the stand is somewhat narrow. This makes the bike easy to tip over if you are not on solid pavement. I suggest that you add the Greenfield rubber foot (available on Amazon: Greenfield Kickstand Rubber Foot) to this kickstand. The foot makes your bike much more stable on both solid and unstable (sand, dirt) ground.

This is the world best kickstand and comes in black and alloy. It is light, easy to fit and has a great spring. I now have one on all three of my mountain bikes

I got the smaller 285mm kickstand, hoping it wouldn't be too small for my Motobecane Elite 19" Hybrid Bicycle, but it's actually a little longer than I would have liked. The bike is at about an 85 degree angle to the ground with the kickstand down. I couldn't use the top plate that came with the kickstand, because there was no room for it on my bike, so I just used the bolt to connect it to my frame, which has a hole that matches perfect to the bolt that came with the kickstand. My bike, when at a 90 degree angle to the ground has 11-1/8" from where you mount the kickstand to the ground. I also ordered the little rubber foot for this kickstand, but since the kickstand was so long I couldn't use it. It seems like a good kickstand though, with a good spring, and hopefully it will last a long time. I'm pleased with it, just wish they had one a little shorter.
P.S. Just noticed that the kickstand has marks going up the backside starting at 280mm and going up the stand in 5mm decrements, so you can cut it with a hacksaw, if you want it shorter.

Does not fit all bikes,

As far as the kickstand itself goes, it's solid and does the job.
I just wanted to make a warning to those considering getting it: you might want to check it out in a bike shop first and see if it works with your bike. I got one, and it doesn't fit properly on my Cannondale Quick. When I try to use the bracket, the screw provided is not long enough to fully screw into the bottom stand. Also the kickstand will cut into the gear cables that run along the frame of the bike in that area, which is something I think you would want to avoid. If you use the bracket, it cuts into the cable for the front derailer. The main portion of the kickstand cuts into the cable for the rear derailer.

A great replacement for a broken Schwinn Bike kickstand. Very easy to install. Comes with a short and long screw and bracket (if needed) depending on the install. This stand is slightly longer than the original (good in this instance), but could be cut down to size if needed.

This kickstand is cheap, simple, light easy to install, reliable, low profile, excelent quallity USA made, very stable....
what else you want This works very very well with a MTB loaded bike (Panniers and Handle bar bag) It have some measurements in order to cut it for the desired lenght, but be careful doing it , if you cut it more than what you need you can't go back and will spoil it And mine came with the Greenfield KSRF Kickstand Rubber Foot!!!! *****update**** 15 august 2011 Not for a very heavy loaded bike, mine brokes because the weight. I now, it's my fault but is not as resistance as I though

I bought the 285mm version for a 26" bike with a small sized frame and found it to be of good quality but a bit too long. The bike stands at about a 89 degree angle so if you look at it cross eyed it will fall over so you have to put it next to a wall just in case. I imagine a larger bike frame or 700c wheels might not have the same problems. At some point in time I plan on cutting it down a half inch or so to get a good tilt but till then it'll do.

Me and my friends have all made motorbikes from custom frames that we bought along with engine kits to cruise around town on weekends and down time. The engine plus the gas tank was too much for the stock kickstand that came with the frame and most of our kickstands ended up either bending or breaking in some way (Me being the first). I checked out some heavy duty kickstands (For motorcycles) but they seemed...excessive. I wanted something low profile that would simply prop up my bike. I tried the adjustable ones, they broke. I tried other brands, they bent. This did the trick and at such an unbelievably low price! Now all of my friends are getting these when their kickstands die out. Not sure why they wait until then - they even look better than the regular kickstands! So far I've seen both silver and black and they both look great. The silver isn't stainless and flawless or anything, but that's good for me. It has a nice vibe to it. The bike has 26" wheels and weighs over 70 pounds. The original kickstand lasted a couple weeks. This baby has lasted for a month already with no problems!! Just a note - I didn't buy the rubber foot that you can get for these and it's worked fine thus far (It's worked on rough dirt, road, concrete, and indoor tile).

Bought the 285mm version to put on my son's small frame Men's Diamondback Edgewood, and it was a perfect fit. Two different bolts provided with stand to accomodate different frame mounting (I used the long bolt). He rides his bike to school every day, and it has worked flawlessly for a month.Bought mine from amazon, one thing I want to point out is that the rubber foot cover came with mine. I note this particularly because one of the top reviews suggests you buy the rubber foot along with the stand. Maybe it was true in the past it needed to be purchased seperately, or maybe from other sellers than amazon, or maybe it doesn't come with the longer (305mm) stand -- but it came with mine. If I had followed the advice of the other review, I would have wasted a couple bucks & had an extra foot I wouldn't know what to do with. |
