Kickstand fit,
By
This review is from: Greenfield Stabilizer Rear Mount Alloy ATB Kickstand, Black, Pouch Packaged (Misc.)
It is nice to find a product that is made in the USA! The product is sturdy, easy to install and uncomplicated.
However, this product did not fit my bike due to the fact that the disc brakes are in the way, making a good fit difficult if not impossible for this particular kickstand/stabilizer. There were no instructions and, even though there are very few parts, I think that everyone would like to know if they are installing it correctly or not. Even a photo would help.

Great Kickstand for Trek 520,

Obtained this for my TREK 520. Toured the "Thumb" of Michigan and this is a great kickstand for the Trek 520. Just remember to use thread lock or periodically check clamping bolts for tightness. Comes with rubber grip strips for clamp and a rubber boot that has never work itself loose and fallen off.

You need two Allen (hexagonal head) wrenches to install this kickstand.
What I don't like: There are no instructions included. Even the Greenfield Industries website has no instructions. While I suppose that there is only one way for it all to fit together, a few diagrams would have been nice. Also it would have helped to know that the attachment point should be moved as far to the rear as possible. Until I did this, my heel struck the stand when pedaling. I presume this is a function of both my shoe size (size 11, male) and the length and position of the horizontal frame member to which the stand attaches. On my bike, I think that a rider with a size 13 or larger show might well have a problem. Again, the Greenfield Industries website should provide this information, but at this writing it does not. The inner mounting bracket has a mysterious hole at the top, and there is no matching hole in the outer bracket. There are no lockwashers provided, though perhaps they are unnecessary. What I like: It is light, strong, reasonably priced, easy to install, and appears to be well made. Rear mounting avoids conflicts with the pedals and crank arms. It looks great, though it makes the bike look rather like a police bike -- perhaps not a bad thing if one is worried about theft.

This is the right kickstand to stand a bike up when nothing is available to lean it up against. It will definitely keep your bike upright. I have been using it for months now and even when I bump the bike accidentally it still stays upright.

The only type of kickstand to use,

I've actually purchased two of these both to put on several touring bicycles. They work great easily supporting loaded touring cycles and are back out of the way. I did have a little trouble getting this on the oversized backstay of a Cannondale because of the screw length. It would have helped if the screws were only 1/8 inch longer. Otherwise, they are fine for steel frame bicycles. The actual support length is perfect for 700c wheels. Those of you concerned about looks or weight, think "function is beauty" and you're protecting the finish on your expensive bicycle ... which in turn protects its value, by not having to lean the cycle against something or lay it down. And personally I like this mounting a lot better than the kickstands that mount near the bottom bracket ... near all those cables. This also seems to hold the bike more upright.

Perfect Kickstand,

I put this on my commuter bike, and it works great. I mainly use it to store my bike in my apartment (I won't leave it outside in the city). It looks as cool as a kickstand can look, it functions really well too. There aren't any instructions on how to set it up, but it really wasn't that hard. If you are looking for a kickstand, look no further.

*MUCH* better than their standard mid-bike kickstand,

If you ride for utility, with rear panniers packed with groceries, this is the stand to have. It's much more expensive than their standard kickstand, but worth every penny.

Sturdy and Strong,

I was having trouble with the standard kick stand due to the weight on the rear of the bike caused by loaded panniers. This resolved my issue. I used it on a small hybrid type bike and did not have to cut it down to fit. The rubber foot also prevents the stand from sinking in our sandy soil.

This stand is very easy to install. If you are even slightly mechanically inclined, you can install it very easily, though the product did not come with any clear installation directions. It is quite sturdy. It holds my bike with loaded panniers. I especially like the rubber feet on the kickstand, which is very useful when parking your bike indoors, on hardwood floor.

Rear mount kickstand,
This review is from: Greenfield Stabilizer Rear Mount Alloy ATB Kickstand, Black, Pouch Packaged (Misc.)
The fit wasn't as universal as we needed. It did not fit the frame of my Iron Horse bicycle and it didn't clear the rear disk brake either. The mechanism is good though and after some modifications, we were able to get it work by building our own bracket.
