Customer Reviews

Pros + Angled + Nice Grip + Sturdy.

Like the Klein, Craftsman, GreenLee, Irwin and Snap-On strippers, the Paladin are made of the same stamped steel.

I usually do not give reviews but this little gem is well worth a review. The best feature of this stripper is the addition of the ability to strip 20-24awg wire which would usually require a second set of strippers. With the Paladin 1117 one set does 10-24awg. Very handy indeed! The second best feature of the set would be the angled head and ergonomic handle with real rubber grip.

Now for the good stuff. I am not a careered electrician. In fact I am a mechanical engineer. However when I need to do electrical work, I just plain need it to work. I searched for a long time for a good set of strippers before settling on these. Any real technician will tell you there is no such thing as an "all in one" tool. I compared the Paladin to everyone- Klein, GreenLee, Irwin, Snap-On, Craftsman, even Panduit (very expensive). True this set is made in Taiwan, but the packaging on the GreenLee, Craftsman and Irwin say they are made in China. Some (not all) Kleins are now made in China. Snap-On is USA (watch out for Blue-Point brand though)and Panduit is Germany. Like the Klein, Craftsman, GreenLee, Irwin and Snap-On strippers, the Paladin are made of the same stamped steel. Only one set of Snap-On's are cast steel (this is a multi-tool however with no spring return) so they were not compared. I was never able to tell by Panduit's website how they built their's (too expensive anyways).

One other nifty build feature is the hinge pivot. It is a large steel rivet instead of a bolt and nut. The rivet will not come loose unlike the problematic nut and bolt type. One other note: as long as you ONLY cut copper or aluminum wire, the cutters will NEVER dull. As soon as you cut any other wire, they dull and never work the same. THIS IS TRUE WITH ALL WIRE STRIPPERS!

For less than $15.00 this could be the best strippers! See I tried to keep it short!

I first used these a couple years ago while building control panels for a large data center project. I'm currently a controls electrician in the City of Chicago. I've been in the field for almost 20 years. I need good wire strippers because I use them almost every day. Precision sharp accurate cuts and strips are essential for my job. I've used many wire stripers throughout the years but these are my favorite. I usually go through two pairs a year. If I don't lose them first, I retire them to my home tool box to use for things around the house. Since it's time to buy a couple more, I thought I'd write a review.

these strippers were bought because of the range of wire they can strip, I install a lot of lighting systems including auto on/off sensor systems (power packs/ceiling sensors) so I need the smaller sizes for control wire. These strippers allow me to carry only one pair of strippers which is great but the rubber handle coating is square shaped? My Klein and greenlee stripper handles are more ergo dynamic and very comfortable. Also these strippers are designed for stranded wire so if you are working with solid you have to go one size smaller to strip or pull really hard to tear the insulation from the wire.

These things are great. I like that they go from 10 to 24 and the angled handle is the most comfortable i've found so far when your doing 100+ terminations a day. They are a bit more expensive than most strippers yes, but worth it in my opinion. I have only had to replace them due to losing mine every few years.

I returned the first pair with the explanation of how the discription and photo of the strippers are not what I received and that I did not want them if they did not have the one described and shown. Well I was sent back the same item without a return label. I guess if they get it wrong they second time you're stuck with it even with the detailed explanation of the difference between the two strippers. I hope I am not witnessing the point where a great company gets two big and loses site of what got them their (details) and only see the bottom line instead.

This is a great aid to stripping the out and inner on my silver wire for perfectly bared wires, I'm getting used to which size works best but can already tell this tool will speed things along.
