HOMESPUN URBAN FOLK, March 29, 1999

Odd music that is both irritating and enchanting. "D TRAIN" reminds me of Chicago's EL, and Pilly's subway. Peter, Paul, and Mary meet Tom Petty? Choose for yourself.

Passionate and worthwhile, July 7, 1999

While their kitshy neo-beatnik routine was equal parts annoying and endearing, there's no denying the Square's passion and feel for the music of the Greenwich Village scene. They mix originals and covers seemlessly, with their version of Leonard Cohen's "Everybody Knows" a particular highlight.
