The blade guard is too small, so if you hit rocks or even sandy soil your windows will complain. Using this edger requires care, protect walls, cars, people, glass ... and allocate time for cleanup of all surfaces since the fine particles spread about dry quickly and then are difficult to remove. Cuts a nice edge, not very wide and deep enough for a level lawn. We got this because we do not want to spread weeds and seeds with a weed whip ... the results are mixed and the extra work is unwelcome.

Having previously used our trimmer for edging, we were really in need of a dedicated edger. Wanting to be environmentally friendly lead us to this edger. At the time we bought it last spring, it had zero reviews here so we took a rare leap of faith and have not been disappointed. Like the first reviewer, we did not receive a second blade. That is really the only con that I can think of, apart from the hassle of using any electric lawn tool (dragging cords around). The handle was easy to assemble, the construction is very solid and it was easy to make adjustments to get the correct depth. It worked well both edging along a sidewalk and along a planting area that is adjacent to a grassy area. We used it for the entire season last year and are quite happy with the performance.

Great edger. plenty of power. Does a great job. The ad says it comes with 2 blades. It does not, just one. Very well made. Worth the money

I have used the Craftsman gas edger, and this edger is just as good and much easier to use. it really does get the job done, is lightweight, easy to get out and put away, and requires no messy gas. Yes. Greenworks has made a very good quality product.I would buy it again.

The Greenworks Edger works wonderfully, Cut through foot of over growth of St Augustine.
Assembly of the unit out of the box was a bit cumbersome. The shaft fits together in 3 pieces. The lower connector has a plastic shim that just wouldn't line up correctly with the holes. Took 2 people to get it just right. Over all great experience and cant wait to use it all summer long

This edger works well for me for my sidewalk and walk covering about 250 linear feet. I had to get a 100 foot 15A extension cord which added another $45 to the expense. It cuts fast and easy. In fact a bit too easy - it's difficult to tell if you stray away from the sidewalk. I tried to very lightly and intermittently hit the sidewalk to keep it close but without subjecting the blade to too much wear. I have a 2-cycle gas edger which I might say cuts a more even and crisp edge, but it is heavier, runs hotter, is messier, and overheats and wears out it's clutch because it can't handle when it gets bogged down.
I'm very happy with this purchase and after 3 uses feel it's holding up well.

Okay. I read all the reviews on the B&Decker model that goes up against this model directly in capability, design and price. Some people were a bit dubious or downright upset about the B&D model. I have never used that model, nor any other type of edger because I have never owned one or borrowed one. So. I will sum up with this; this thing is fast. Only clogged up once. And my lawn was really wet. So I expected that. But it powered through the task even though much of what I had it do had NEVER been edged. Ever.
Second time I used it was like cutting butter. LOVE the product. Happy. Recommend it to anyone. Makes all the difference too in how the lawn looks. Go ahead. Buy one.

I used to use a commercial type gas edger. This probably can't compete with that. On the other hand, it really does get the job done, is lightweight, easy to get out and put away, and requires no messy gas. Yes, it does require a cord. But in my environment now, that's not a problem. Greenworks seems to make a very good quality product. I like this unit a lot, and I would buy it again. (One note: the photo doesn't show it, but it in fact has an added handle along the shaft, which is very useful for balancing and guiding as you go along. Just like it's orange BD competitor unit. I almost didn't buy it because the photo didn't show that handle, but I figured out it in fact comes with one, so I went ahead. Glad I did.)

As with anything one gets that requires partial assembly you always expect one headache or one problem in the assembly process. Such was not the case with this item. A lengthy assembly booklet came with the product but it wasnt required. I think the entire process from getting the product out of the box (by far the hardest part of the entire process) to completion took a good 5 minutes. Really easy. The edger comes with a tool that I thought sure was required in assembly but as it turned out is a tool that comes in handy with blade replacement....the edger comes with the blade fully attached. The assembly merely consists of attaching the segments of the handle and as I said, it could not be easier.
Im glad I purchased this product simply because of its superior warranty. If the manufacturer is going to stand behind a product whose use is so hard on an item then it must be one great tool. We shall see.....but may have to wait until next season to find out just how well the item performs.

Got tired of gas mess and hassle. This unit works as well as my gas machine. Lots of power. Clean smooth cut. Easy to use. Plan your job and the cord is never a problem. The first two times it felt a bit unstable and clumsey. The third time was very easy. There is a very short learning curve. Enough power to dig a smooth trench. Never bogged down or strained.
