5.0 out of 5 stars The Girl Who Defines J-Pop (is Nami Tamaki, duh), June 19, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Greeting (Audio CD)
I was introduced to NT through an issue of GL magazine (strange,i know) and thought "Hmmm...another J-Pop artist!Let the fun begin..." and immediately (...) to listen to her song samples...whooo, i was UTTERLY blown away. The the perfect combination of Nami's mind-blowing vocals and fabulous background music made me want to jump for joy,but i didn't (God forbid i get too perky). I had,at the time, been completely obsessed with Puffy AmiYumi and didn't think my undying loyalty would be abandoned so soon, but as soon as my NT CD arrived it was all that i listened to for a WHILE.

My favorite songs would have to be "Believe" "Destiny" and "Realize".

Believe is the second theme song for Japan's anime series MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED that is sung by NT.It is my 2nd Nami Tamaki anthem (I have four.2 for Puffy and 2 for NT)and i listen to it incessantly on my iPod. This song was on the J-Pop cd,and for good reason. This song is the epitome of J-Pop.

Realize is the FIRST theme song for MSGS sung by NT but it not in any way superior to or worse than Believe. The two songs are equally perfect and different from each other.

Destiny is a very fast and more J-rockish type song in which the chorus is sung in the very beginning. Also in the song, Nami hits really, glass-shatteringly high notes on the words "itsumo" and "yobu". but it is a really good song.

The lyrics docome with the cd,but unless you can translate Romaji into English, you won't have a clue as to what she's singing about.

This is one of the best j-pop cds i have ever bought. hell, it IS the best j-pop cd i have ever bought and lisened to. like i said, Puffy comes really close to taking the award of best j-pop artist...but i gotta hand it over to Nami Tamaki.

Puffy AmiYumi+Nami Tamaki=pure J-Pop****************************

5.0 out of 5 stars Vastly better than anything I've heard from a Western Pop star, March 19, 2007

This is a delightful album of J-Pop from the very clear and clean voiced Nami Tamaki. She sings effortlessly in an unforced yet expressive voice. Her backing is modern electronica.

Yet another beguiling album of modern Japanese pop music with just enough "edge" and a sense of "otherness" to clearly differentiate Ms Tamaki's album from the typical prosaic Western product. To some extent, J-Pop could still be classified as "World Music". Lovers of all things Japanese will enjoy "Greeting".

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, June 25, 2005
A Kid's Review

I first heard of Nami Tamaki when i saw her music video "Prayer" on the azn channel...shes so amazing! I like the fact that she was a dancer before she became a singer, so she choriographs(sp?) all her music video's herself! Besides that her voice is amazing! I personally think Prayer is the best song on the album but many people vary...

5.0 out of 5 stars Tamaki Nami starts off with a bang, May 23, 2004

Her hit single "Believe" and "Realize" on Gundam Seed has toped numerous charts in Japan. Her album "greeting" has all the great singles in one CD. I totally recommend it! Her Techno and Dance beats really make her a unique artist. Who would of thought a 15 yr old girl could top the charts in less than a month? Now thats what i call talent! For all you anime or j-dance/techno/rave listeners, you won't be dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars a very fun CD, April 12, 2006
This review is from: Greeting (Audio CD)
First of all, this CD is a very good investment if you like Japanese pop music. Second, this CD is an excellent starter if you are interested in getting into Japanese music.

Eternal voice- 5/5. It's got a nice, catchy opening, and great chorus.

Believe- 5/5. This song has an awesome beat, and a great chorus. Also, the guitar solo is impressive.

Day by Day- 4/5. The little beeping noises can get annoying, but overall, it's a great song with a catchy tune.

Complete- 5/5. This is a nice song that is set apart from the others, because instead of techno, this song is more rock. The guitar is great, and the only weird thing is the man saying "i'm down with the crew"...it's quite funny, actually. This song really shows off Nami's lower range.

Be Positive- 5/5. A really, nice mellow song. Nothing else to say.

Never stop my heart- 6/5. I LOVE this song. It's my favorite on the CD. It's a layed-back song, with nice violin, and a great chorus.

Shining Star- 5/5. This has got to be one of the coolest songs ever! The 'twinkle twinkle little star' tune plays through the begining, and a little bit in the middle, and it's got a fun twist put on it. This song is really fun.

realize- 5/5. Really, REALLY catchy, and it has some nice guitar.

naked- 4/5. At the begining of this song, the first time i heard it, i thought my CD player was skipping. But alas, it was only this song. This song is really good, it's just lacking one tiny thing.

Destiny- 5/5. my second favorite song on the CD. I like how Nami goes from the low notes to the high notes, and the little bit of hard guitar is a nice touch.

You, tomorrow- 4/5. Just one tip-don't listen to this song with headphones on. This song really shows off how long Nami can hold a note. Just sometimes, she goes too far. She holds almost every note. It does sound really good on regular speakers.

Prayer- 5/5. Really nice song, good tune and beat.

Believe (mix)- 5/5. This is very, very pretty. It's a great mix for a great song, and really shows off Nami's voice.

this CD is excellent, I listen to it lots, and i reccomend it strongly, as well as Nami's other albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your My Shining Star, September 11, 2005
This review is from: Greeting (Audio CD)
This is the best J-Pop cd i have ever listened to! Nami Tamaki's voice is beautiful and every song on this cd is great. My most favorite songs are Shining Star, Realise, Eternal Voice, and believe. Being only 16, she rose to fame in japan as a pop star. Who never thought she was so young.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clean, August 26, 2006
This review is from: Greeting (Audio CD)
I'll be brief...

First, I am glad I bought this CD and it gets plenty of play time.

Although I have only 9 or so JPop genre CDs (ok, 7 are Puffy AmiYumi), this high energy pop/dance music is just too fun to play while flying down the road at 130 - 150 kph (80 to 90 mph to the rest of my country's non-metric hold-outs)... just watch for traffic and police. I have no idea what I am singing about, my diction in a language I am extremely poor at mimicking is horrible, but it is fun none-the-less.

...ok many of the songs at first sound just like the last one on the CD. Then, after a few listens, you start to really appreciate each song as its own creation.

Clean: Her vocals are very clean and her range is fairly impressive. But what catches my ears the most with her voice is the range of strength or rather presence. Her voice is like a clarion bell parting and leading the electronic musical score. The first time I heard her voice on a couple of the tunes, I was saying to myself, "wow..."

This is no doubt one of the best j-pop releases i have listened to. Great tracks all arouund no need to fast foreward to "Believe" and "Realize". i particularly like the CD because of the wide variety of styles of th songs ranging from pop to a slower melody...so all in all is simply a great CD for any J-pop/anime music fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars What I expect of an artist of her caliber . . ., August 13, 2008
This review is from: Greeting (Audio CD)
I've been a fan of Nami Tamaki ever since I first heard her music while watching Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, and was very pleased to see that she also contributed several songs for its sequel, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny.

Overall, this CD was very good. Fans will probably recognize her very popular Gundam Seed hits "Believe" and "Realize," but there are also a number of other really catchy pieces like "Destiny" (my favorite on the CD), "Day by Day", "Be Positive," "Prayer," and several others. I was definitely impressed with the number of good songs on this CD and would recommended it to any Nami Tamaki (or J-Pop) fans.
