Funny, funny, funny, September 29, 2006
This review is from: Greetings in Jesus Name (Paperback)
I don't want to ruin any plot elements but this book is not about evangelism in it's normal context. There are many times when I was glad that this book is in paper version because if it were an E-book, I would have spewed my coffee all over the keyboard and monitor it is that funny. Mike Berry AKA Shiver MeTimbers is one of the world's experts in the field of scambaiting, art restoration, wood carving and graphic arts. If you have ever received an unsolicited email offering you untold millions you have been touched by this world and told by many not to reply. Well Mike replies and takes the responses to the next level of funny. Great book, buy it and support the cause. CLG

You'll laugh so hard you'll cry!, December 7, 2008
This review is from: Greetings in Jesus Name (Paperback)
I've been a long time fan of the "419 Eater" web site and its endless supply of hilarity. This book could be called "the best of" such tales. I had already read a few of the book's stories on the web site, but they are always funny -- I laugh so hard every time that I end up all teary-eyed from the experience -- from the laughter, that is, not because of the "tragic" circumstances the scammers are inventing. I highly recommend the book *and* the web site, both of which will provide hours of amusement and astonishment about the greed and avarice these perps display. You may also be impressed with their tenacity, as many of the scams involve weeks or months of e-mails, faxes and phone calls back and forth.
The book contains photos that are just as entertaining as the stories. In case you think the author is just being an old meanie, keep in mind that many people have fallen for the purported "Christian" or otherwise "charitable" requests for help, and in doing so have lost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Berry is at his best when he causes his new-found victims to put out their own money during these long and drawn out negotiations, thus scamming the scammers. If you visit the web site you can hear some of the phone conversations that add to the experience.
Buy this book, you'll be glad you did and I guarantee some very hearty laughs.

This guy is hilarious. The book is hilarious. He doesn't hold back, he goes all in and the result is amazing. He scams the *@#&$ outta the scammers. A modern vigilante!
